Buy American - America First

“Buy American – America First” are splendid sounding words, but unless we are prepared to back them up, they mean nothing at all!

Latest case in point – Yesterday, my wife and I were down at a huge retailer in El Cajon, California, We noticed a display that was selling portable, name-brand vacuum cleaners at a very good price, and even though we had not gone to this store to purchase one of these units, at the price, we could not resist picking one up! When we got it home however, we almost immediately tried it out, and lo and behold, the thing had virtually no suction at all!!

Totally disgusted, this morning we attempted to contact the retailer and were told to call the manufacturer’s 800 (toll-free) number, and this we did, only to discover that the customer care center was out of “The Philippine Islands!”

After attempting in vain to politely express my feelings to a nasty foreign-accented witch, and getting no where, I called this giant retailer to tell them what had occurred – and they told me to bring the vacuum back! “The biggest problem however, is the fact that this retailer is located some 50 miles down the mountain, and the temperature here has been topping 105 degrees!”

The bottom line here is this: “You can not extol Americans to “BUY AMERICAN” when certain money-hungry retailers continue to import foreign junk, label it with an American name, and then when the thing proves to be trash, and you seek a remedy, you find out that the corporation that is turning out the miserable product is off shore and manned by nasty-ass foreign personnel!

To quote an old saying Mr. President – “Talk alone is dirt cheap!” Now, and with all due respect:

“It is time for you to stand and deliver upon all of your splendid-sounding promises!!”

“BUY AMERICAN - AMERICA FIRST – YOUR DAMNED RIGHT!”
