North Korea vows to rebuild military, blasts US over ‘empty promises’

Re: https://nypost.com/2020/06/12/north-...mpty-promises/

President Trump’s relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un appears to have soured, with the Hermit Kingdom on Thursday accusing the US of turning its dreams of peace into a “dark nightmare.”

On the second anniversary of a historic 2018 summit between the two leaders, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Son Gwon accused the US of failing to live up to its promises at the Singapore meeting and said Pyongyang would rebuild its military.

“Never again will we provide the US chief executive with another package to be used for achievements without receiving any returns,” Ri said on state news agency KCNA, according to reports.

“Nothing is more hypocritical than an empty promise,” he added.

The foreign minister said the Trump administration had shown that its ultimate goal was “isolation and suffocation” of North Korea and announced the Communist country would build up a “reliable force” to combat “long-term military threats” from Washington.

The remarks signify a complete unraveling of the informal deal brokered by Trump and Kim at the June 2018 meeting where the pair pledged to normalize ties between the US and North Korea and “work toward complete denuclearize of the Korean Peninsula.”

North Korea on Thursday also warned the US to “hold its tongue” and stay out of its recent spat with South Korea after the totalitarian regime severed all communications with its neighbor.

President Trump made history at the Singapore summit when he became the first sitting US president to meet a North Korean leader and again in 2019 when he set foot on Korean soil.

The pair developed an unusual friendship, with Kim writing Trump what the president described as “a very beautiful letter,” but it appears his administration’s attempts to reign in the rogue nation’s missile tests have stalled.

Personal Note:

I seriously doubt Denuclearization of any kind will ever come about. The world is to insecure that there is no trust in any other Nation's but its own. Survival of the fittest seems to be the topic of the day and everyday. There is no trust anywhere anymore amongest the worlds leadership. It's all about money and power not so much the people.

Currently with autocratic leadership it implies one person is making all the decisions for a group, team or assembly.

Past Autocratic Leadership Style Examples. Adolf Hitler, Attila the Hun, Father Junipero Serra, Genghis Khan, King Henry III, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Queen Elizabeth I, these are just some people in the world's political history who demonstrated autocratic leadership. And we know how they ended up!

Know of any other names you'd like to add to this list?
