O-key Doe-Key!
Paco Mah Deah Southern Bro,
I'm puttin together a "notebook" and "photo journal" of all the travel info, hotel and B&B Inns, AMTRAK info and so on as we speak. Jackie says I'm being "anal" again! Guess it comes from all those years of "formal" presentations I had to make while in the newspaper business. I'll save you some of whatever I put together and send it to you when we get back. We're REALLY lookin forward to this trip........especially the train portion of it. Two of my uncles were railroad engineers in the 1940's, 50's and 60's and I got to ride with them on a few "short hauls" several times as a child. I've loved train travel ever since then. And Jackie and I rode the train up to and back from Washington, D.C. in Nov. 1992 for the ten (10) year re-union anniversary of The Vietnam Veterans Memorial. She fell in love with train travel on that trip and has been looking forward to more of it ever since. It's like going back in time about 40 or 50 years.........it is the absolute BEST way to travel if you've got the time to go that way. Hope to see you guys next year "on the mountain"! PS----Bob, just checked the "route" stops of the train from California to Chicago and it only stops in Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. The train from Chicago to Maine leaves late at night (8:45 PM) and only has a couple of stops in Michigan, Ohio, New York, Connetticut, Mass. and Maine. Thanks for the "invite"anyway...........hopefully we'll get together on that "mountain" next year also!

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda...
Sounds like y'all have a helluva trip planned (and all this time I thought Ft. Bragg was in North Carolina). Congrats, and may you be so rejuvenated that 37 years from now y'all might retrace your steps. Naturally, if y'all happen by the East side of Atlanta in your journey, love to join y'all for a beverage. As for the mountain, the theme seems to be "Eat, Drink, and Remarry". Oh, I should be so lucky! Good luck & Godspeed on your way!
