Default Pelosi's new rules

A new day's coming in the House anyway, her'es what Pelosi's new rules are going to be. A far cry from republican "corruption as usual!" America's tired of the corrupt old Republican way of doing things. This is part of our plan to keep Republicans out of politics--when they see they won't be getting any income from the federal government other than what theyre paid, they'll run away screaming.
These are the types of rules that the Republican ccmpletely ran away from. They had their chance to enact rules like this but cut and ran. Their idea of changing the rules to make America better was to throw out the rule of Congressional leaders mjust resign from their leadership posts if indicted. This is known as the "Tom Delay" rule. (they changed this back after the public outcry.
No, the Republican never contemplated common sense reform like this, it cuts down their income stream to nothing. No more Abramoff skyboxes, no more Rolls Royces and yachts to Congressmen, no more $5000 golf trips to Scotland.
What this will do is force republican Congressmen to live on their salaries, not the political boodle from lobbyists. One nice thing for sure--it'll hurt them more than it hurts us.
Have a nice day, all,
Stay good
James

from: http://www.cbc.ca/news/reportsfromab...new_rules.html

"The act is a tough document, authored by Nancy Pelosi, the San Francisco-area congresswomen who has been the Democratic House leader since 2002. She will likely be the House Speaker if the Democrats win next Tuesday.

Here are some of the new rules Pelosi wants:

No House member may accept any gift of any value from lobbyists, or any firm or association that hires lobbyists.

No free travel, which means an end to the corporate jet line every Friday at Reagan National Airport.

No free tickets to Redskins games; or no meals of any value, even at a McDonalds; no front-row seats at entertainment venues. No, no and no.

Temptations resisted

To reduce temptations to cheat, Pelosi's bill attacks the usefulness of members to richly endowed lobbyists.

House members will no longer be able to slip in special-interest projects on unrelated legislation. Such measures will no longer be allowed on a bill once negotiations between the Senate and House are complete.

Further, all bills will be made available to the public a full 24 hours before a final vote; presumably this gives watchdog groups a chance to flag any skullduggery.

Under the Pelosi rules, lobbyists will no longer be able to use the House gym (you'd be surprised how much gets negotiated in a sauna). Lobbyists will no longer be allowed onto the House floor or to use the cloakrooms just off the floor, preventing last-minute arm-twisting.

What's more, no member or staffer will be able to negotiate for employment in the public sector without disclosing such contacts to the House Ethics Committee, and within three days of such contact being made.

Finally, all of this will be audited and investigated by a new Office of Public Integrity, and that office reports, directly and only, to the U.S. Attorneys Office."

Talking James

I predict in the next two years that Sister Pelosi will be investigated for some kind of corruption. PBS has thread on the history of corruption in congress.
They are many corrupt, there are very few non corrupt folks in congress according to PBS. The corruption is just amazing in congress. When the democrats were in control there was a lot of corruption.
Kennedy, Johnson, etc. It goes on and on. Corruption resides in both parties, unfortunately. Power corrupts and total power corrupts totally.
Now we'll have Democrat corruption.

Now if they will work five days a week instead of three and cut their pay to below the President's. Oh yeah, WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT GAY MARRIAGE! HEAR THAT REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS? Many families abandon their gay relatives when they come out. But when the gay person gets sick, here come the families, throwing out the one who cared for the person and take all his possessions no matter what the wishes of the gay person. Fix it. It ain't gay marriage and you don't have to be gay to get screwed by this custom. My aunt lived with my grandmother all her life because my grandmother had one arm. She was able to teach school but doing the daily chores of existance was too diffcult. So we have two females living together, life partners, and my aunt go no social security nor had any property rights. Fix it, Democrats and lay off something that is not going to happen any way soon.

James, you don't have to be corrupt to be a wacko. Pelosi has been so out of touch with the middle class she might as well be a
Republican.
