Paul Cairney, commander of the 48th Security Forces Squadron at RAF Lakenheath, England, presents a U.S. flag to Trish Alden, widow of U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Nicholas Alden. Heather Joy A Liberty’s Fallen Defenders memorial was unveiled Friday honoring two of Lakenheath’s fallen airmen. Senior Airman Nicolas Alden was killed March 2, 2011 during a shooting that targeted American personnel at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany. Senior Airman Jason Nathan was killed by roadside bomb while on patrol in Iraq in June 2007. During the dedication ceremony 48th Fighter Wing Commander, Col. John Quintas remarked about the amazing response and support by the entire base community during these tragedies.
