Seems this is a message that has been said before. Yet we as the US did very little in 1980...

Iran can drive the cost of oil to $ 200+ a barrel. He doesn't need big cojones. They own the Strait of Hormuz.

If and when they do, we call in the first strike, blow the rag head sons of bitches back to the stone ages, declare the Strait of Hormuz international waters and then protect those waters with a few subs!

The Nimnuts and the Independence were quite a bit closer as they were both in the med at the time. Indy was closer and at a higher state of both readiness and alert.
I can only imagine what would have happen if that jerk off Carter had stayed in office longer. If the hostages weren't released on Jan 20th, what would Reagan have done? Would the task forces on the Nimnuts and the Indy conducted strike opps?

I only piss on the Nimnuts because they are a nuke ship and the conventional carriers that were part of the task force, got very little credit for their efforts. Hell, the Indy beat the Nimnuts in every war game we conducted against them. The Indy was far better run, ready for combat, and had a fantastic crew, not to mention an outstanding Skipper and Chain of Command!
The Indy was robbed of the Battle E only due to Public Relations reasons, and surely is a piss poor reason!
