Default You got it Gimpy!

It is getting ridiculous down here and the problem is TOO MANY DAMN YANKEES!

I don't remember any Confedeate Flag of ANY sort that ever flew over a slave ship. Most were Yankee ships with the Stars and Stripes.

The destruction of Confederate Heritage is a serious problem but few have the guts anymore to defend our sacred symbols.

American by birth, Southern by the grace of God!

Packo

SCV Member in good standing!

PS Gimp, it was the Democrats in Georgia that got the Battle Flag removed. The Republicans fought hard to keep it. OOPS!

Default Slaves

Americans never went to Africa and went out in the jungles and found people to bring back. Africans sold people to Americans to bring back to America. Freeing people from slavery was the right thing for Lincoln to do, but he should have taken them all back afterwards. Then they could have gotten in this country the same as the rest, (across the Rio grande).
Did I say all that out loud?

Post Most Slaves were brought over before

The United States became a country. More British, Dutch, French, and Spanish ships brought slaves than American Ships.

Slavery was practised in Africa among Africans before the arrival of white man. Raiding tribes sold members of other tribes to the British or whoever for things of monetary value.

Slavery was practised among Europeans enslaving other Europeans. Many white Americans also came over as slaves. (Indentured Servants). In almost everyone's past there is a history of slavery. Most can say, "Our ancestors were slaves."
What do you think that the serf/fuedal system was all about. The Nobilty owned the serfs (workers), arranged their marriages, told them what to plant, etc. It was slavery plain and simple. So, when someone comes to me and says, "My anscestors were slaves." I say, "So was mine and 95% of the world." Get over it.

Slavery in any form is disgusting, sick and bad and should never be tolerated. But to hold bitternesses from the past does nothing more than promote pity trips. Get over it and deal with it.

The idea of Royality, Nobility, etc is what spawns slavery. When you say that someone is better than someone else just because of birth, you are saying they have the right to enslave others.
I believe the idea of Nobility should be wiped off the face of the earth. From beauty pageants to Kings, and Noble families around the world. They are inhuman and degrading.

Wink reply

Paco, that sure is the truth, there are too many damn Yankee?s. It seems that the American League would be much better off if the Yankee?s were limited to a roster of say, 15 player?s. All of us in New England would join you southern boys on that one!

The American flag on slave ships, that sure did happen. Most of those boats set sail from Boston or New York. You want to buy something up to and including a slave today? Go to New York or Boston, they?ll sell it to you. White, black, yellow, makes no difference. Hell, you can get a Rolex on 42 St. for $25.00.

Regarding Southern Heritage, that IS a Southern thing. Up here we still re-enact the battles of Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill. It?s because the people want to. Not everyone, but some folks are serious about it. No we don?t have people with a political agenda trying to stop the celebrations but we do have developers who want to put condos on these sites who have been stopped. Maybe if the schools would teach some history so kids knew how many southern troops actually owned slaves the Stars and Bars would be seen as more historic than anti-black. I?d hate to think that one day the flags of the 25th or the Cav were thought of as symbols of oppression due to a large influx of Southeast Asians.

By the way, Mom saw the Christmas tree ornament made by the UDC. It caused her to part with a sacred family relic. She gave me her grandfather?s GAR pin which we have now attached to that red and white bulb. There is something symbolism there.

Was it really the Democrats who changed the Georgia flag? I didn?t know that. Gimpy, what?s that all about?

Stay healthy,
Andy

Default I'm getting

to know Andy too well. I knew he was going to make a reference to baseball!

I could jump on a soapbox for hours on this subject but will make this brief. All this Confederate Flag and Confederate Heritage bashing is all part of the PC and NAALCP plot to demonize Southerners and the Southern cause. We are a unique part of the country that we identify as Southerners and the pride we feel in that. That pisses people off for some reason. If the South was so bad, the majority of blacks in this country wouldn't be living here. It would be like up north the Irish trying to get Revolutionary War Reenactors to not allow the Union Jack because it's offensive to them. It would incure demonizing everything that has to do with Great Britan, it's culture, it's sacred symbols. It would be blaming all of their problems on the British, and then try to extract money from them. Hogwash!

I will now defer to ma brother and eminent orator, Gen. Beauregard "Stonwall" Gimpy to take the colors from me and enlighten ya'll.

J.E.B. Packo

PS Andy, I think men from both sides would love what you did with that ornimint! They had reunions for years after the war, together. Give the T-shirt to Annette, and let your neighbor know that he's in a heap of trouble if he comes to Sherriff Shug Kisner of Culpeper County's turf. AHHHHEAPATROUBLE, BOY!

Default Now lookee heanh,

Mah Deah Frand Mista J.E.B. Packo is sho-nuff right in all he pro-fesses (s-pecially bout thet "Heritage" stuff), X-ceptin one thang.

But, bein a disadvantaged, disabled, democrat of superior mendacity (how bout thet thare fer sum thet "orator" stuff, packo my frand?) not ta mention advanced intellect and outstanding 9-ball abilities (thet's POOL fer some-a y'all whut dun't know no better!)

The ONLYEST dang democrats whut voted ta change thet flag wuz those that were of African descent and those whose "districts" were overwhelmingly populated with folks of the same persuasion! There WERE a goodly number of "Repubs" that voted ta change it as well! Thet old "rascally-scalawag" Guvnor (anutha "turn-coat-so-called-supposed-ta-be-democrat-whut-is-really-jest-a-damned-traitor-in-mah-book) Roy (Bubba) Barnes went and frightened tha HELL-out-a BUNCH of them GREEDY old Republican fellers in tha "Jawga" House & Senate by saying ALL them black folks AND a WHOLE LOT of "politically correct" companies were gonna take they's "business(es)" ELSEWHERE if'n thet thare flag wuzn't changed!

End result! The so-called DOLLAR-$$$-FACTOR won out!

Them "wimpy-assed" politicians (demos) whut HAD ta have "black" votes ta git E-lected voted ta change it---AND them thare "greedy-assed" repubs (and wimps in mah book) voted with their "business interests" ta change it.

And "that's the REST of tha story"---as thet radio feller says!!

Cool what?

Paco: The mayor of this burg received a letter from the High Sheriff of Culpeper County South Carolina, Thomas Truelain Marlin ?Shug? Kisner. He was unable to verify the address but because my name was mentioned in the letter the mayor called me to confirm the fact that Officer Nicole had done such an outstand job in assisting you. The letter was brought up before the city council and the officer received a letter of commendation from the town. Now you understand why cops like it when I play pranks. Never go half way.

Speaking of half way, Gimpy came up with an excuse for them Democrats that sounds a little like he?s been spending too much time watching Court TV. The Democrats didn?t want to change the flag but had too, so of course they convinced the Republicans to go along with them. Sort of sounds like the guy who said, ?I didn?t rob that store and I swear I?ll never do it again!? Now you know I wouldn?t ever attempt to defame my dear friend and comrade General Stonewall Gimpy esq. But if it looks like an elephant and sounds like an elephant, it?s probably not a mouse with a glandular condition. Gimp, you want to try another answer?

Stay healthy,
Andy
PS: Annette did wear that that t-shirt and I ripped it off her. Viva Viagra!!!

I don?t recall reading or hearing of a Slaver that was flying the Stars and Bars. I believe there were blockade-runners but I?d think the needs of the CSA were not as simplistic as adding more slaves. Having little industry, they needed weaponry, munitions and the like and Europe was quite happy to sell them all they could buy or trade for the cotton crop. If I?m not mistaken, international slave trading was banned/outlawed by the onset of the Civil War and John Bull was on the high seas enforcing their newfound morality.

As to current events, I see that the turret of the USS Monitor has been raised. I also see that the CSS Alabama is being explored off the coast of France. Hopefully, there will be enough left of both to put together a really fine display, including the display of a replication of both flags of the time. This attempted ban on the Stars and Bars all seems to be an exercise in whacking-off mud turtles and getting people all whipped to butter for no good reason. Seems to me our Hawaiian flag has the British Union Jack incorporated and I wonder who is going to gripe and raise hell about that.

In my opinion, taking away symbols and hiding artifacts isn?t going to eliminate Southern culture/history or make descendents of former slaves fell one bit better about anything. Kinda like an answer to a question that no one asked. The Union and Confederacy had a brutal and long war and some 800,000 troops died and that should be enough for anyone. So let?s be real and sensible, leave the symbols alone and just let things be.

Default Half Way???

Sorry Andy, just cause you don't LIKE my answer to mah deah frand J.E.B. Packo don't MEAN that it's NOT the truth! It is well documented that my version listed above is EXACTLY what happened! Yeah, old "Roy (Bubba) Barnes was elected as a "democrat" to his position of "guvnor"----BUT, it'll be the LAST time he gets elected, count on it!

By the way, why don't you ask packo WHO had the flag removed from the State house in South Carolina? The answer may suprise you. This action was $$$$$$$ dollar driven as well---boycotts & business interests are evidently a strong deterent to historical accuracy & heritage, huh?
