Manastash Peak is right on the break of desert and wooded mountains. Only 4 or 5 miles west of Manastash Peak and there are all kinds of trees. My wife works 6 miles east of the Peak and they have all kinds of trees there.

I wouldn't live on the other side of the Mountain for nothing. Its wet and cold and you hardly ever see the sun. I know I lived over there for 15 years. We see the Sun 300 days out of the year. Its great to visit over there but to live there you must be a duck or fish. Sequim isn't too bad because they also have the Rain Shadow of the Olympics.

Keith,

As I've said before, "humpin'" is good for the soul. I've done most of my hiking in the Bitterroots. Sorry, no photos I can post. I have to get me a digital. Pretty pictures on this site. In Montana I am used to both the green and barren. They each have their own beauty. Any natural place on God's good earth is a good place to be for clearing the head and the soul.
