Default Does your city spray for mosquitoes?

Like ours does?

Look what happened to my lilac bloom

This was a dry summer day. This is the mosquito spray on the leaves -

and you can see what happened to the delicate first bloom of this lilac bush

Yes Maggie,

Even though the Mosquito is the SC state bird....we have to spray just to all keep from being eaten alive. I have never seen it effect any of Deb's plants or any of the floral or flauna in the Lowcountry. Maybe your city should call Beaufort County and find out what they use.

Not much of a problem here, especially after 18 degree cold, but over in East Texas, they grow the mosquitoes big enough to stand flat-footed and sexually assault a turkey. Spraying them just serves as a libido enhancer.

Default you guys

are funny

Actually pesticides are likely to disrupt the libido and cause it to go high (that wouldn't be bed) or too low ... like no sex drive (that would be a sad story) Would put a young man into 'mid life crises' & who knows what all.

The spray they had been using, & probably still do in Valdez is Permanone which contains 5% or .05% (?) permethrin

Are you sick or what? Does your inhaler need stiffening?

Yes they did last summer Maggie, didn't hurt any of our plants though or animals. The entire county of Sacramento CA was sprayed by airplanes.

As a kid we had an old oil burning 30 year old truck that drove up and down ever street in town spraying bug killer, think it was DDT. There were at least a dozen male baby boomers in our little neighborhood. We would all get on out bike and ride behind the truck, almost hiding in the cloud of the spray. Don?t remember any adverse effect on the flora or fauna.

For many years that sort of spraying has been illegal. They have come up with a spray that does not harm other wild life that is sprayed only in the wetlands. Doesn?t work as well but the tree huggers are very happy.

Stay healthy,
Andy

Default Can cause sperm counts to decline

That kind of 'dusting' could cause the sperm counts to decline in that area ... that's what I think

I remember when you all talked about playing with DDT. . .
and I wrote up the info - 'Screaming about DDT?"

Did you have children?
Were there any premature births, if so?
Were the children healthy?

I think baby boomers get a double whammy ... because their parents that were in WWII war zones and/or who worked in manufacturing ... could have been exposed to the EGBE pesticide I scream about all the time.
