Decorated Vietnam War veteran Walden dies at 55

(EXCERPT) By Andrew Dys The Herald (Published February 23‚ 2004)

FORT MILL -- He fought in Vietnam and fought for the always-burning
light at cemeteries for veterans. Now Ken Walden's light shines among
them.

Kenneth Wayne Walden, 55, called "Chi-Si" by the people who knew how
much of himself Walden gave while fighting for his country in Vietnam,
died Saturday at home. He was 55.

Walden fought a years-long battle to get 24-hour lights put up at Fort
Mill's Unity Cemetery, finally succeeding in late 2002.

Perseverance was nothing new to Walden, known for his commitment to
veterans and the pickup truck and motorcycle he rode with the Prisoner
of War and Missing in Action flags on them. Walden was the first
president of the local chapter of Rolling Thunder, a collection of
cycle-riding veterans....
