Question Okay, Who's the Baseball Guru in here?

Last night...Red Sox vs. Yankees.

Four CONSECUTIVE Red Sox batters hit FOUR home runs OFF THE SAME PITCHER.

I gather from all the hoopla that was going on that this is a rare event.

So, who can give us the "who, when, and where" of this happening before (in major leage baseball)?

Wright's the second big league pitcher to allow four consecutive homers. The other was Paul Foytack of the Los Angeles Angels on July 31, 1963, in the sixth inning of the second game of a doubleheader against Cleveland.

Damn BozoSox

It's happened four other times;

1)Milwaukee Braves v. Cincinnati, June 8, 1961, 7th inning. (Eddie Mathews, Hank Aaron,Joe Adcock, and Frank Thomas)

2) Cleveland Indians v. L.A. Angels, July 31, 1963, 2nd game, 6th inning. (Woody Held, Pedro Ramos, Tito Francona, and Larry Brown)

3) Minnesota Twins v. Kansas City Royals, May 2, 1964, 11th inning. (Tony Oliva, Bob Allison, Jimmie Hall, and Harmon Killebrew)

4) San Diego Padres v. L.A. Dodgers Sept. 18, 0000, 9th inning. (Jeff Kent, JD Drew, Russell Martin, and Marlon Anderson)

Bill & Steve,

Thanx for the info.

I don't understand how a pitcher stays in the game long enough to achieve something like this.

But.....I guess that's a "manager" thing. :re:

Steve,
Although all of the games you listed were games that four consecutive homers were hit, only the Cleveland Indians v. L.A. Angels and of course the recent BozoSox v. the Yankees were the four homers hit off the same picture.

Bill,
That's correct.

I can imagine the reaction from the pitcher...1st homer..."oh, shi*", 2nd homer "WTF!", 3rd homer, "SOB!!!!", 4th homer "I QUIT!!!!" Owner..."you can't quit, you're fired"

I'm a Yankees fan, so it was a bit discouraging to see that happen. On the other hand, if you look at the odds...it's a pretty good accomplishment.

Bozosox?! You mean the team that currently leads the American League and is tied for 2nd best record in the majors...as opposed to the Yankees with their .444 losing percentage?

Oh Oh I smell some trouble brewing here. Hey Doc the SOX didn't do to well against Petetie until he was taken out of the game, the other pitchers they faced were two inexperienced rookies, the Yanks put up a lot runs aginst the SOX pitching including the new wonder boy Dice-K. Yankee pitching is what cost the Yanks the loses. Don't look forward to this repeating at the stadium this weekend. By the way I do agree 4 hrs in a row was quite a accoplisment by the SOX. I love watching these two teams when they play each other, you see the best and worst of the both of them. I am Yankee fan since 1955.
