Gas prices USA
Gas prices hit new record highs this week. Here in Atlanta , regular is 1.59 a gallon. My daughter in San Diego said she pays over 2.00 and quit looking at the price. Whats it going for in your area ?

Not too bad, but plenty high enough, in Oklahoma... a supposed fuel producing State. I still cannot understand... WHY must we be experiencing this when: - With all this effort and money expended in the past 50 years we supposedly have (or damn well SHOULD have by now!!!) good relations with middle east oil sources - We have abundant oil reserves ourselves - If most oil production is controlled by OPEC, and since we are nominally in charge of Iraq's oil output, and Mexico is our good buddy NAFTA trading partner, and since our last two presidents have made nicey nicey with African oil producers, that counts for nothing? - How it is that having a relatively factually still unlimited supply of oil necessarily MEANS that there should be: a) a LOW (!?!) supply just now? b) "Low" supply must mean HIGHER prices? c) How in the name of God did a power outage on the EAST friggin' coast, or a recent little pipeline leak in Arizona amount to this enormous INcrease in gallon prices at the pump! Could it be that oil producers are simply faking their annual "shortage" of supply around holidays (in this case Labor Day)? Calling a normal supply a "shortage" and then charging much more per gallon during a peak usage period is one sure way to increase "reasonable return to shareholders on their investment" (and to CEOs), is it not? Don't mean to be unamerican here folks, but somethin' is drastically wrong. |

They just went from $1.79 to over $2 a gallon here for the cheap regular in less than a week. The "brand names" (Shell, ARCO, etc) are around $2.25.
We haven't seen $1.59 a gallon in a few years.

Why do we continue to be dependant on foreign sources of oil? If diesel engines can run on used vegetable oil, you'd think that other engines could run on alcohol/ethanol.
Regular is $1.99 a gal in western Washington.

Just went out to get a sniff of the street, regular here is $1.59, ethyl is $1.75. Here's some more questions: - If urban area prices MUST be so much higher because there is so much greater demand and so short a supply, then why are fuel distributors not held negligent by shareholders for not supplying more fuel? - If rural area prices MUST be higher because of less demand and higher cost of supplying fuel to remote places, then why is there such disparity between areas? - Is there ANY place in America where supply and demand actually DO function as a guide to pricing? |

Cost me 28 to $33 per tank full. Still have a V-8 and this will eat you out of house and home.
Don't like the smaller cars so I have to pay for the creature comforts. Gas is now $1.83 to 2.09 for regular unleaded in our area.

Curtis you guys are lucky to have cheep gas. I had to fill the Buick this weekend at $2.19 per gallon. My guess is DICK Chaney is lining his pockets while he can.. That is one man I worry about he has a open check book with our gas money and I don't like it one bit the words Greed and Gouge come to mind.

Seat,
You said it right!!!!!!! I think it is a proper way for Price Gouging. I pay 159 for it and my ole truck drinks it faster than I can drink beer. ( yep belive it). Also school started and that mean the moms or pops have to get their kisddies to school or to the bus stop. Aint like it was 40 years ago. BTW, I wouldnt own a four cylinder truck no matter what..... enough.......
