Yesterday was a day to reflect - but see below

I got up yesterday and went to the memorial site in Munster, IN
-
It was about 7:45 AM I walked the path once more as I do every so
often. I planted my Flag at the NAM site. And as I usually do talk
to the wall and display for those - Bud's we lost.
-
Spent an hour in the bitter cold talking to the wall and went to
the WWI section; said Hi Grandpa & thanked him for your service.
-
Went to the WWII section - said Hi to my Dad and My Uncles
and told them they will never be forgotten and are missed.
-
Went to the Korean section - and talk with my Uncle Bill USM
to let him I haven't forgotten and I do miss him.

From there I went for breakfast - I normally don't eat breakfast
but it was cold and my thoughts were about my past relative's
& friends of mine that didn't it back and were sent home
in boxes.

Got Brisket's and Gravy and a coffee - I normally don't eat
breakfast any more - but it went down just fine.

I went to the VFW in Dyer, IN. It was open! A few guys
were there and we drank beer(s) for about an hour.

Later this big tall older old man asked if we were open and
could he come in?
-
Of course we said and then we found about his tour of
duty. He was 92 years old and still looked great and was in
WWI - WWII - and Korea.

He looked great for 92 years old and we bought him a
beer. It was about 8:30 or 9:30 AM - and he told us of his
military memories and then bought around for the five
guys in the VFW. He was amazing and sharp as a tack!

He said he had taking his buddy to the hospital next door
and a few other's and looked out the window and saw our
VFW Post. His bud was getting tested so he thought he
come down and see if it was open.

He was 92 looking great and drinking a beer - sharp as a
tack and was glad he stopped by and that we were open.
Now his stories took hold - our oldest guy is 77 yrs old
(name Bruce).

He said he was so glad he dropped by and we all thanked
him for his service and his longevity & his memory of his duty!

That made my day and the five other's in there as well.
We shook his hand bought him a beer or two and thanked
him for his stories and service. He's going to break
a 100 he said - and after that - God only knows.

I just had post this - because it made my day!

I hope you all remember Veteran's Day! So much blood was
shed during those conflicts - American's have shed blood but
so do our enemies - it's not what we wanted - but in defense
our lands - our people and alias - we bleed like everyone else.

I salute all those that serve (and serving) and to those we've lost.
God Bless America and all those that were wounded or
sacrificed their lives.

Sad isn't it - and yet we "war away" to often and suffer from
those actions - and even today - fight in foreign lands to counter aggression when called upon.
