The fact of the matter is Saturday Bambi is dead meat. I've been mr nice guy long enough. I let them eat my apple and plum trees all summer and now they are eating my Magnolia's the buggers are not starving they just like to piss me off. one is a little two point on one side spike on the other but I don't really want to shot one in my own yard so I'm talking the twelve year old boy from down the road into whacking that one. He will get a deer and I will solve a problem and still get to go hunting. the older I get the less getting one ever year means but I sure like to put a lot of days in the woods. I have three guys going this year willing to tag one if I shoot one opening weekend so maybe I'll do that. heck I might even take my rifle with me this year who know's. Oh yeah just thought I would let you guys know Griz and I are teaming up for a little Deer hunting this season we'll let you know how it goe's ..chris

I GOT BALLS!!!!!!

Some may not think so,but that seems pretty important to me.

What with all these Hi-teck projectiles they got for muzzle-loaders these days it just keeps gettin harder an harder to find roundballs. All the places that I was used to getting them no longer carry them. But I've found a place that carries a good supply of them! They've even got a mould if I could figure out where to get pure lead.

I gotta keep the per-shot cost of shootin muzzle-loaders down because if the deer don't show up when an where they're supposed to I tend to wander off and pop away at squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs,'yotes and such.Couldn't afford that if it cost $1.50 or so every time I poped a cap.But now I got balls!

I know of several folks who use tire weights for the lead for their balls and mini-balls. They say they work very well. Read an article in the "American Rifleman" they recommended tire weights for balls and mini-balls. I have never done black powder so I'm don't really know. Just friends and what I read.

Default Have you tried tire balancing weights?

I know of several folks who melt tire weights down and use them. Read an article in the "American Rifleman" that said they performed very well in black powder.

Doc back in the 70's my Dad used to melt down old car battery terminals and cable connectors for the lead to make sinkers for fishin' I bet the lead from them would make good mini-balls for huntin' also

Default Black powder

An easy way to get cheep bullits for a black powder is to go to a firearms shop and buy some reloading Bullits for what ever size black powder you have .
Example; a 50 cal. can use a 458 bullit, A 36 cal black powder can use a 35 or 32 cal.
A 44 black powder can use a 41 cal bullit. etc.
