The following list provides the names of the Union general officers killed in the American Civil War, plus the date, and the battle in which they received the wounds, and is organized by date. The list is in two sections; (1) Those killed in action and (2) those who later died as a result of wounds received in action.

Hmm?
Maybe it's one of those myths that pop up, but wasn't Joshua Chamberlain considered to have finally died from his wounds at Cold Harbour? I believe he held the rank of Brig. Gen. at that time.
Finally did him in around 1913/1914.

Chamberlain was a Major General and yes his death is believed to have been hastened by his war wounds acting up. All total he was wounded 4 times if memory serves.

You left out Brevet. Brig. Gen Strong Vincent killed 2 July at Gettysburg. (Little Round Top)

How about BG Nathaniel Lyon who was killed at the battle of Wilson's Creek, Missouri on 10 August 1861. I am not sure but I think he was the first Union General killed in the war.
