We have reached an important point when the end begins to come into view. NARRATOR Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. A massive Vietcong and North Vietnamese offen-sive struck the cities of South Vietnam. The attacks spilled into the living rooms of America and split the White House staff. WALT W. ROSTOW (National Security Adviser) Yes, I was optimistic after the Tet offensive -- even more optimistic in a sense than before -- because it's one thing to have confidence that you're going to cope with this maximum effort.
