These are the stories of men searching to make peace with the past and end a war inside themselves. Their objective is to find fellow soldiers who can help them. The mission..... OPERATION REUNION.

Stories include:

Wednesday, November 12:

Vietnam-era U.S. Special Forces soldier Lee Burkins has been searching for his friend, photographer Sam Houston. On May 7, 1970, Houston was wounded when a grenade accidentally exploded. For 30 years Burkins has carried the image of his friend on fire. Private Investigator Jimmie Mesis takes on the case and is able to track down Houston. OPERATION REUNION brings the two veterans together in a powerful reunion at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

On October 23, 1983, a suicide bomber detonates a truck bomb in the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon and kills 241 Marines. Sergeant Armando Ybarra is trapped in the rubble. His rescue is captured by a photographer and ends up on the cover of Time. After almost 20 years Ybarra begins searching for his rescuers, the men in the photo. An Internet posting yields one match?Dave Maderas. OPERATION REUNION reunites Ybarra and Madaras who haven?t seen one another since the deadly explosion. OPERATION REUNION is enlisting the help of The History Channel viewers to identify and locate the other three men in the photo.

Thursday, November 13:

Larry Peters is piloting a riverboat in enemy territory in Vietnam when his platoon is ambushed. Peters is knocked into the river by an exploding grenade and vaguely remembers being pulled to safety by his commanding officer Waldon Gibbs. For thirty-four years Peters has been searching for Gibbs who he believes saved his life. OPERATION REUNION puts Peters in touch with Private Investigator Sam Brown who is able to locate Gibbs. On Gibbs? 55th birthday, the veterans have an emotional reunion at The Presidio in San Francisco.

On February 26, 1991, during the ground war phase of Operation Desert Storm, Marine Corporal Randy Styner?s tank battalion runs into Iraqi fire. One man is hit, Styner?s commanding officer, the one man Styner trusts to get him through the war alive. Haunted by his experiences in war, Styner is trying to track down his commanding officer. OPERATION REUNION is enlisting the help of The History Channel viewers to help find him.

In a previous episode of OPERATION REUNION Korean War veteran Shorty Estabrook was looking for Goyo Mata, a fellow survivor of a brutal and torturous POW camp. A History Channel viewer took over the role of private investigator and was able to track Mata to Germany. After being separated for 50 years OPERATION REUNION reunites Shorty Estabrook and Goyo Mata

CARL H. LINDAHL is the executive producer of OPERATION REUNION for The History Channel. OPERATION REUNION was produced for The History Channel by Indigo Films.
