Cool THE BEACH

at Mui Ne was just a few yards from our room, down a short flight of marble stairs.

Cool FISHING BOATS

were just up the beach from us. The round ones are where they kept the fishing nets. I didn't see any of the boats being launched or comming in. I did see them stowing the nets into the round boats on an early morning walk. Maybe they brought them in from night fishing before I saw them

Thumbs up CYCLOS

These are one of the icons of VN. They are available in most of the major cities, however we didn't see any in Ban Me Thuot and Pleiku. Kath and I found this to be our favorite way to navigate the sprawling streets and Kamikazi traffic. A real taste of going native. It goes just the right speed for pictures, and the driver will stop where ever you want for Kodak moments or shopping. Many of the drivers are former ARVN soldiers [see "TAN, THE CYCLO MAN" post in this thread], and most speak at least broken English. You can hire one of these guys for several hours for $1. However it's hard work, so tips are greatly appreciated. It's wise to settle on a price BEFORE the ride, otherwise you're in for a real haggle and a sob story.

This is me doing some shopping in Saigon.

Cool KATH

on the same trip. The traffic made her nervous. She would close her eyes like she was on an amusement park ride . It could be alittle un-nerving when you're in a pedicab in the middle of all those motorized vehicles.

Thumbs up WE HAD A GOOD TIME

cycloing in Qui Nhon. Caucasion tourists wern't as common there, so we would get alot of double takes from people.

Thumbs up KATH

enjoyed her shopping trip in Qui Nhon. She bought some little boy outfits for our grandson, Finn. She especially liked having our guide, Tam, along to help her dicker the best price.

Wink QUI NHON

traffic wasn't too bad. Especially compared to cycloing in Saigon. However, it could get a little hairy around these "Roundabouts." A New Englander must of laid out some of these towns .
