Default Cowboy hat

In 1965 ust before heading to town for the night. Army towns are not real friendly to Army people. I have worn a cowboy hat for a long time. It seems the cowboy hat is going away. I used to go to the mall and there would be 1/3 of the guys there with a cowboy hat on. I went to the mall the other day and the whole time we were there I seen one guy with a cowboy hat on.
Small Texas Towns are much better when it come to finding cowboy hat wearers, Most all the guys and some girls wear a cowboy hat, they even look at you funny if you don't have one.
But then there is the Houston Live stock show and Rodeo.

In the mid-west, cowboy hats are a big hit with latinos and gays.

Post Lots of Cowboy Hats

Lots of Cowboy hats in this town. Its a rural town and many locals still wear cowboy hats. Most of the younger generation wears baseball caps instead of cowboy hats.
I always hated hats, I only wear a hat because my hair is thinning on top! Haven't worn a cowboy hat since I was a teen.

Bob
Which one is why your there?

Kieth
I guess it don't have to be Texas it wear one in a small town.
I don't wear hats either. When I do its a cowboy hat. I used to go to the honky Tonks and if you went into the "Wounded Armadillo" without one, well they just may ask you to leave.

Jeff Hoofard hails from Houston, Texas. He has been playing drums for local and national acts since 1986. He has shared stages with such icons as Bo Diddley and Chubby Checker as well as some of Texas? best acoustic artists ranging from Doug Clark Steiger to Shake Russell, Denise Franke and Allen Damron. He has sat in on pick-up gigs for numerous regional performers and has been the percussionist of choice on several recording projects. Jeff started his professional career with a band named Southern Wind. This trio consisted of Lynn Pettijohn, Stan Chmiel and Jeff. This band played sold out shows at the Mustang Lounge and The Wounded Armadillo in Richmond, Texas.

The Armadillo Burned down a few years back and Richmond Texas has never been the same.

Default Friends...

Not big in general with such type hats around here.
Still, go to Western Shows or Dances & Rodeos,...quite common.

Whatever, and even though swearing to never wear a hat
again unless in a blizzard or such after being discharged,
still believe that no headgear any sharper or better looking...
than a Stetson with Crossed Sabers.

Neil

P.S. Keith,
Still, hardly ever wear a hat or cap.
Wouldn't want to mess-up my full head of hair ,
which I attribute to being pure of heart and full-of-shit.

Agree with you 39 about civilians in Army towns not being so friendly. I remember people in Alaska who use to work on post at Ft Richardson, the ones we use to come in contact with who worked at the PX, commissary, flicks, Quartermaster, etc. They use to think they was bigger than life doing jobs that no skilled training was needed and all they was making was minim wages.
