STAUNCH DEFENSE PUPPET STYLE PART 2
PART 3 CHRONOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE "STAUNCH "DEFENSE
Upon receiving the news from captain Thu of the who commanded the ship HQ16 that took supplies and Mr Kovan Kosh to the Paracelses Kiem called Admiral Chon NCO who was in Saigon to report to him the Chinese Invasion and ask for specific order. Chon responded by asking Kiem to look for proof of Vietnam ‘s ownership of the Island. Kiem spent a significant amount of time looking for the documents. He did not find any. El Chino Assumed that Chon had informed President Thieu or his National Security Advisor General Dang Van Quang of the Chinese Invasion. 3)As the invasion progressed and still no order come from the NCO, Kiem get in touch with the Vice NCO, Admiral Tanh who was in Danang. Admiral Tanh ordered Kiem to shoot. After asking for confirmation of the order to shoot had originated from President Thieu himself by Tanh qhich responded by the affirmative, Kiem gave order to the captains of his "fleet" consisting of 4 ships , HQ4, HQ5, HQ 10 and HQ 16 to shoot.. He also instructed his subordinates now that Headquarter in Saigon will take over from now on. Kiem contacted the Airforce and ask fr coverage but was given the run around. Range was not sufficient. Speed to high to detect anything as small as a Chinese Boat. 4)Thieu gave the order to whom the paper did not say to "parley" with the Chinese. Kiem did not have the means to communicate (parley) with the Hicoms even if He wanted too. So in this time of crisis a lowly sublieutenant of the ARVIN to parley with the Chinese. He did it the only way he knew. He asked one of the miserable poor soul in the platoon of 20 puppets troops whom He commanded to come out to parley with the Chinese brandishing a white flag. When the Chinese refused to comply and showed sign of being ready to shoot, the Puppet troops ran for their life-El Chino Don't blame them-2 of whom were shot in the back by the Chinese. It is not clear to el Chino who these 20 Vietnamese were because even Do Kiem didn't know. 5) Do kiem was running like a headless chicken . He could not get in touch with the NCO Chon who was flying to Danang or with the vice NCO Tanh who went to Danang's airport to welcome Admiral Chon. He could not get in touch with anybody in his upward chain of command. He wondered aloud: Did his superiors intentionally disappeared to let him holding the can. He could not report directly to President Thieu , nor to the minister of defense, the Chief of Staff or the Prime Minister because they were outside of his chain of command. The day is running out with bad news coming without interruption There were alarming reports that two boats were sinking by the Chinese but later on they were shown to be able to "limp" Back to Danang 200 miles away and that at least one of the ship was hit by friendly fire the HQ16. Kiem Asked the DAO to send the US fleet to interdict the Chinese Fleet but was met with a contemptuous refusal. 7)The Vietnamese Trafalgar victory was a humiliating defeat. Kiem gave order to "his" boats to disengage and to return. I am sure that "his" captains had already taken the decision to disengage themselves and to implement it without waiting fir Kiem's order. In the Mean Time, President Thieu asked the USA, probably through Ambassador ……….but was met also with a contemptuous refusal |
