The Opiate Of Power
Does the average man or woman still figure into the overall scheme of things here in the United States? Has world opinion and internationalism taken a front seat to our own prosperity, and maybe even survival? And has this (so-called) New World Order erased nearly 230 years of building upon the impossible dream? For that matter, when is enough really enough? Does every millionaire have to become a billionaire? Do international politicians really have to thump their chests over the corpses of their own people? And is there really a difference between the crimes of the common man and the felonies of the highly situated? And where is it written that the government (any government) has the right to exact revenge against those citizens who (legally) follow the beat of a different drummer? And last but not least, when were vast portions of our own population transformed into enemies of the state just because they had the audacity to challenge the reasoning of a vested few or express their own opinions? ?So when is enough really enough?? Is every dime in the world still a dime short to a few ultra ambitious denizens of greed? Are we nothing more than inanimate chess pieces - chunks of feeling less clay or plastic, to be moved and manipulated upon some giant chessboard - one in which only the chess-master survives after an ultimate game of chance? And when pray tell, did the masters of this nation, "We The People of All Colors, Religions or Creeds", become nothing more than the servants of big government, and not the other way around as it was ordained to be by our Founders? Does our vote really count anymore these days, or is it merely an exercise in self-diluting futility? If we vote in accordance to the pre-selected plan, or for the pre-chosen victor, are we granted the illusion of freedom of choice? If on the other hand, our votes go contrary to plans of a powerful few, is that vote declared unconstitutional or is it voided by some vested agenda! Is the opiate of absolute power just another form of insanity or an infectious disease perhaps, as can be attested to by recent occurrences in California and elsewhere? And finally, when did we cease to elect servants of the people in favor of potentates and demigods? For when and elected official of any party ceases to act in accordance to the will of the majority of voters, an instead adheres to the demands of the clique or some conveniently invisible puppeteer, the will of the people no longer even enters the picture! Again, we do not elect emperors to any political office here in the United States, but merely temporary servants of the will of the majority. Not a majority in financial power alone, as these affluent citizens rarely fight in this nation?s wars, nor do they suffer as dramatically as the poor and middle classes during hard economic times. Rather, it is that majority of patriotic American souls, the common people, who created this nation out of a wilderness, and who keep it running with their blood, sweat, tears and souls! VERITAS (Truth)
