Ponder This
With Idi Amin now fertilizing the ?Old South Forty?, one less (former) despot is around to putrefy humanity?s chances for survival! Unfortunately, however, Uganda?s Amin was not alone in his rampant insanity! Certain facts have recently come to light that aptly display that not all totalitarian nincompoops end up as targets of terror themselves....
In a recent poll of likely terrorist targets, it came as no surprise that we here in the United States finished in the top ten! What did come as a surprise, however, was the fact that out of all of the nations considered, North Korea sat at the bottom of the list of potential marks!? And this in itself elevates a poignant question - ?WHY?? Of course, it must be remembered that crime under Stalin (USSR) was extremely low, and Mussolini even made the trains of Fascist Italy run on time! So I guess that it comes as no great surprise that Kim Jong Il would lead a nation that bottomed-out the list of potential terrorist targets! I mean, what the hell is there in North Korea, outside of two (?) nuclear facilities, and a dozen or so pickled cabbage Factories? Also, Kim Jong Il, for all of his faults (and he has a bushel), would have the heads (immediately) of any entity that attempted to pull off such an act on his watch!? Maybe this in itself is the true deterrent here, and as I see it, the terrorist nations of the world are well aware of the temperament of this little shit (Kim)! So what is the message here - Be a repressive bastard, and the world will beat a path away from your door, or in some cases, pay you a little (under the table) tribute (the old Barbary Pirate scenario)? Or does this ?Monkey See, Monkey Do? posture toward North Korea by certain terrorist nations immune Kim from attack by his venomous peers? ?Is Kim Jong Il the ?Mouse That Roared?, a genuine threat to world peace and security perhaps, or is he but a deranged dwarf in elevated shoes?? (Does anyone know for sure?) So what does it take to be (almost) terrorist-proof? A violent mentality, disdain for life and liberty, or maybe even a screw loose! Where the United States is concerned, maybe the ?Old Rough Rider (Teddy Roosevelt)? had it right - ?Speak softly, but carry a big stick!?? To hell with this ?Softly Crap? - Maybe Old Blood & Guts was the one that was right on target?! General George Smith Patton (1885-1945) was once touted as saying that: ?When he wanted something to stick, he gave it to his target in language that they could understand (*#^%)!? And although Patton, a rich and highly intelligent man, was not always diplomatic in his jargon, he sure as hell left no room for doubt! ?Maybe that is what we need now, who knows?!? VERITAS
