Thumbs up TRUCK JOCKEYS

Some real cowboys. Had to be alittle dinky dau to drive a rolling bomb through Indian Country time after time.

Steve, no more wrecks abandoned on Mang Yang Pass. Now it's a beautiful drive through the mountains on a nicely paved road. We stopped for some Kodak moments of some of the vistas. I'll post them later.

In FEB68 I drove several times through Hai Van Pass. This was while moving the 82nd Abn. Div. from Chu Lai up to Phu Bai. My unit, 1/17 Cav, was most of the convoy security force. Another dangerous place. I was hoping to make it back through there on this trip, but it didn't happen.

I didn't think the Mang Yang was very pretty back then, but I bet it really is now. I went through that Hia van pass by Danang several times from Feb 1968 to the end of the year after we moved to Phu Bia. We always liked to come down from the north and go to the PX's, USO and China Beach. [Sometimes we would fake a break down and stay for a week.
