What's the one SPECIAL thing you do every Christmas?

Is there one special thing you do, or event that must happen to make your Christmas complete?

Ever since I was about eight years old, I remember watching the movie "A Christmas Carol" on TV.
There are lots of versions of this movie. It can't be just ANY version. It has to be the 1951 version with Alistair Sim as Scrooge.

I never realized how important this was to me until one year recently I almost missed seeing it.

After that I bought the video tape. That ain't gonna happen again!

Well...Up until 1998 I got shit-faced,falling down drunk.Started on Thanksgiving,right in to the new year.My Father in Heaven has since shown me a better way.

Christmas only gets going AFTER Santa takes his sleigh past Macys in New York City. Haven't missed that parade since we had to take a Grayhound to Aunt Agneses in Auburn on Thanksgiving because she owned one of them new thingy televisions.

Wadda mean your relatives?! That movie must've been filmed at my house! I love the snow saucer bit and Chevy Chase's interactions with Randy Quaid, not to mention the occaisional shot of Beverly D'Angelo's...assets! My old man loved to put up as many Xmas lights as he could afford every Christmas and he thinks the Griswold house is a masterpiece.

Ya know that scene where Chase watches the old home movies while stuck in the attic? Afew years ago my dad had his old home movies put on VHS tape and we watched them. It was, at the same time, the funniest and saddest Christmas Day I've ever had. So many people in those grainy, shaking films have since passed on, but those days were good times and I miss themso much(Damn! I've got something in my eye again!). Anyway, as the old traditions fall to the wayside, new ones are made or combined with ones gained from marriages, so life doesn't allow us to too much time to dwell on the old days.

Putting the ornaments on the tree together - we have over thirty years of ornaments. If you lived in my house you have an ornment on the tree. The mother of my grandbaby made an ornament when she was four " As time goes by and I am not little anymore remember me the Christmas I was four " with her picture on it. Past pets go up , my brother , who passed , has his ornament up. It's connecting the past with the future for me. Johnny gets his first ornament this year. I am blessed

Up untill a few years ago, my brothers and I would go bowling every Christmas Eve. This would usually be the only time any of guys would go bowling. we only quit when they tore the bowling alley down for a new mall.
We're tring to find something to replace this. Only one of us plays golf

For the past 50+ years we've always had oyster stew on Christmas Eve, just carryng on the old farm tradition, an mom's recipe
