RAF Feltwell to host July 4th events

RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall will host a Fourth of July celebration for the community at RAF Feltwell on July 4, 2011.

Gates will open to the public at noon and close after the fireworks display, which will begin at 10 p.m. Area road delays are expected due to the number of visitors in the area.

Some of the major highlights of the day will include a fireworks display, Royal Air Force Red Arrows Aerial Demonstration, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and "Sally B" B-17 fly-over as well as live entertainment from the United States Air Forces in Europe band, Wings of Dixie, and Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers band.

Other attractions include:
Carnival rides
Game booths
Child play area
Car and motorcycle show
Birds of prey demonstration
American Southern barbecue

Animals, with the exception of service animals, will not be allowed into the festival area.

For security reasons, all items brought into the festival area will be searched before the owner can proceed past the entry point.

The 48th Security Forces Squadron will conduct searches of all hand carried items prior to entering the festivity area. Only purses, baby bags and lawn chairs are authorized as hand-carried items.

The following items are not authorized on RAF Feltwell:
• All liquids. (Gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers)
• Coolers
• Duffle bags and other large hand-carried items
• Weapons (knives, firearms, objects that fire a projectile that can potentially injure someone, blunt force objects, etc.)
• Drugs/drug paraphernalia
• Potential explosive material
• Protest paraphernalia (banners, spray paint, locks, chains, handcuffs, fence cutting tools, bullhorns, etc.)

* This is not an all-inclusive list. The 48th SFS and Ministry of Defence Police may restrict items not conducive to safety, security and public order.
