Robert Heinlein
I've always enjoyed reading what he wrote.
I started with his juvenile novels (aren't library cards grand ) and read everything I could get my hands on. Now we own lots of them. I wanted to read How to Be a Politician published in 1946 but didn't know until recently that it was republished as Take Back Your Government! in 1992 . Darrel did a speech in college based on his writings and got an A (of course) and several students asked him questions afterwards. Dead too long and out of print but still right. http://www.nitrosyncretic.com/rah/rahpubs.html

Read everything he ever wrote. His thoughts on duty and honor apply more to the common serviceman(woman) than anything mentioned in the Art of War.And he could spin a hell of a yarn.Requiem should be required reading in schools.
Was glad to see that the movie Starship Troopers was as well done as it was. Always knew he'd figure out how to get in the last word so his book Grumbles From The Grave was not really a surprise. It cleared up several things I'd been wondering about. |

He is one of my favorite authors of all types of writing. I remember sitting up late during a school night to read "StarShip Troopers", and then doing the same thing with "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". "Grumbles from the Grave" did explain a lot. I have most all of his books, 25 different that I can find ( LOL). The two oldest I have are "The Day After Tomorrow" ( Original Title Sixth Column ), Signet paperback, Sept. 1951 and "The Man Who Sold The Moon", Signet paperback, March 1951. I have been fortunate enough to have kept my sci-fi collection from my teenage years ( several hundred volumes ), and still read some from time to time. Great authors. Great books.

Yep.Absolutely.Frankly,when I heard they were going to make a movie based on his work I was afraid they would end up adding a big dose of PC crap and end up changeing it beyond all recognition. They did make quite a few changes but I don't believe they changed anything vital to the story, the general storyline,or the overall spirit of the book.Do you have a diferent opinion?

OK maybe it was as well done as it was is too positive but in comparison to the butcher job that hollywood has done on really great science fiction this one at least made an attempt. :re:
