Default Clinton morphed into Chamberlain

Ex-president Bill Clinton urged Israelis over the weekend not to overreact to comments by newly elected Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recommending that Israel be "wiped off the map." (Don't know about the casual reader, but that sounds like a serious threat to me.)

Speaking at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on Saturday, Clinton acknowledged that the remark was "outrageous," but he cautioned that the Iranian leader was "not elected because of his hatred for Israel or the West. He was elected because of the economic distress of ordinary Iranians, and which he promised to relieve by giving them financial assistance," Clinton explained, according to the Jerusalem Post. (So let's see if we can follow the logic trail: Iran sends WMD's into Israel via a missle system aided and abetted in its development by the North Koreans and/or Commie Chinese, and viola! the GNP of Iran goes up through the roof. Peace, love and taboolih for all.)

"He was elected because of the economic distress of ordinary Iranians, and which he promised to relieve by giving them financial assistance," Clinton explained, according to the Jerusalem Post. (Wasn?t this some of the same blather Hitler offered the Germans before the outbreak of WWII in Europe?)

He warned Israel not to act unilaterally when reacting to terrorist threats, saying that "true peace and security can only come through principled compromise." (Re-wind the tape: wasn?t this very same tactic used by Neville Chamberlain, English prime minister, with the very same ?peace-in-our-time? compromise?)

Clinton urged Israelis to "organize their politics" so "their search for peace can continue" regardless of domestic policies. (When is Clinto going to issue the same thoughtful and profound advice to the Iranis?)

On Oct. 27, President Ahmadinejad told a "World Without Zionism" conference that Israel is a "disgraceful blot" on the Middle East that should be "wiped off the map." (Now, how is this threat supposed to be nuanced?)

Advisor - good question! Methinks the narcissistic side of Slick Willie pictures himself as the Richard, while his actions speak more or Neville.

A good lesson in keeping one's mouth shutted.

A day or so after the Iranian's comment came out, one of his apologists in-country declared that the Prime Minister, being new at his job, was "unaware" of the impact his statement was likely to make.

There abounds a multiple of begging questions: Who is the more stupid:

1. The Iranian prime minister for making the statement?

2. His appointed mouthpiece for trying to spin it properly?

or

3. Bill Clinton, for his comments?
