A Good Question
OR A PLAY ON WORDS?!
A perplexing question was put forth in the letters section of today?s rag, it went like this: ?In his economic speech, President Bush stated that over 50% of dividend income is earned by seniors!? If this indeed true (and I don?t doubt it), then what percentage of this very same senior community (as a whole), earns significant (IF ANY) dividend income? For instance, and only as an example, if say 25% of this overall 50% of seniors is earning substantial dividends (and that?s being damned generous I think), does this not mean that 75% of seniors (veterans included), are living in (or damned near) the bread line?! A little clarification Mr. President - "PLEASE?!? Oh, and for the record, if the president was of another political party, even a Bull Moose, I would still be asking the same question!! VERITAS
