I was just thinking about the creed itself, not sure how much more there is to it, for one thing... they did not instill this kind of concept into airmen at Lackland in 1963.

Have a young friend who works for the museum, in his last year of high, all set up with his recruiter to make his attempt at becoming a Marine... where I do imagine such a creed is the lesson of each and every day.

He's a just a big gentle good kid, strong as an ox, good natured and dependable... and soon he's gonna be needing to practise that creed, at age 18 or so. Must be quite an awesome change for a person, to begin speaking and thinking in that manner, eh? But, what else can a fighter do? Not sign up is about it I guess. Otherwise, seems like it is pretty much in one's best interest to take the creed view and keep polishing the prayers along the way.

We leave none of our own on the field of battle, ever.

What was it that Patton said. I can't remember the quote but it was something along the lines of:
You don't die for your country, you make the other dumb bastard die for his!

Leave no man behind, I understand that perfectly.

One thing that bothers me to this day is having had two shipmates washed overboard that we never did find. Drives me absolutely crazy to think how we could have ever done such a thing!

Would me too... for an airperson, its a holy wonder ya'll don't experience more of that!

Sparrow, correct if wrong, but one does not see many films (the only non-squid option) of your ships in heavy seas, I mean REALLY heavy seas... I keep trying to imagine how a ship behaves front to back and side to side in such conditions, and what constitutes a truly
"heavy sea" to a Navy :cd:
