Thumbs down 219 for 212 against

Of those against, 34 were Democrats

0 Republicans voted in favor of the proposal.

By 3 votes our entire nation has been shifted from one way of life to another.

Here is my humble estimation of where we stand as of now:

1. The Senate will next have to vote in favor of the Reconciliation Bill for all of this to take effect. There is no guarantee that they will do so, but if any Republicans change sides then it will pass.

2. When Social Security, Civil Rights and Medicare legislation was originally passed, more than 330 House members voted in favor for each. It is an outright falsehood for anyone to state that Republicans were against those measures.

3. Having said that, both Social Security and Medicare are at extreme risk of financial failure - primarily because they are based on excessively optimistic actuarial planning. There is no reason to believe that the Health Care Reform legislation will not suffer the same result.

4. In order for the new legislation to function as promised by the Democrats, then the following will need to happen, as guaranteed by them, within a very short period of time. aThis is what the Democrats and President have promised will occur:

- Congress must agree to incrementally refine and repair this Reform Act in future years.
- NO federal funds shall in any direct or indirect way be used to fund elective abortion.
- The Stupak/Obama Executive Order preventing use of federal funds for abortion must; a) be written, and b) be upheld in courts of law.
- At no time henceforth will any female in America be able to justifiably claim that she is disadvantaged under our health care system.
- Americans must be able to wait patiently until 2014 for the benefits of this Reform to come into effect.
- There can be no negative effect of the Reform upon Veterans benefits.
- Small business must see no negative effect of this mandate upon their hiring or related costs.
- No American earning less than $250,000 per year shall see their taxes increase.
- There must be significant Tort Reform.
- $1,300,000,000,000 in savings must occur within the life of the legislation.
- 32,000,000 uninsured must become insured.
- All benefits of the legilsation must apply to all 50 states equally.
- There can be absolutely zero denials of coverage on the basis of pre-existing conditions.
- 4,000,000 new jobs must be created.
- Premiums charged by insurers must no longer increase annually.
- There can be no lifetime caps on medical coverage.
- There can be no rationing of health care.
- You must be able to keep the health coverage and physician you had yesterday if you like them.
- Your health coverage must be portable when you change jobs.
- Our national deficit must decrease by $4,000,000,000 in the next decade.
- New taxes charged on medical devices and medicines must not be reflected in increased prices for those products.
- Bankruptcies due to unpayable family medical expenses must cease.
- The Donut Hole in Medicare part D must be permanently closed.
- The lawsuits brought against the Bill by as many as 38 State Attorneys General must all fail to prevent the Federal government from imposiing unfunded Medicaid costs.
- Overall costs of medical care to private citizens and to the goverment must decrease, not increase in any way.
- Waste, fraud and abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid systems must cease.
- Supposed inequities in availability and affordability of medical coverage and care experienced by Black and Latino communities must cease.
- World financial markets, and our national Bond rating, must not reset in anticipation of 1/6th of the American economy having been legislatively placed on credit.
- The excise tax on Labor Union "Cadillac" health plans must go into effect on or before the year 2018.
- The "Doctor Fix" must not increase the cost of this legislation, nor may it have any effect upon the CBO's analysis.
- Illegal immigrants must not realize any benefit as a result of this legislation.
- Special Interests and lobbyists must be unable to further reduce the effectiveness of this Reform package.
- The expected 16,500 new IRS workers needed to enforce the mandated health coverage must be able to do so.
- No longer shall 45,000 Americans perish each year from lack of medical care.
- The cost of medical care must go down.

I need to know when that will happen.

I need to know when to call the IRS and tell tem to come pick up my "payment".

I wonder which one of our "fine" congress people came up with this idea?
