But One Small Step Away

Don’t ever look down upon the man who is down on his luck! Rather you believe that but, for “The Grace of God there go I!”

You know actually, we could all be closer to the gutter than we may all care to realize? And do count your blessings every night when you close your eyes, be it even within a hovel, for as long as you have family and hope, you can be numbered among the richest persons alive – and so it is!

And as for those people who automatically assume that he who is cursed to a life upon the streets, is there only because he (or she) lacks initiative, drive, education or the integrity to claw their way up the ladder of success, they may be as delusional as those who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths, or who, for one reason or another, knows-not the travails or the hardships of those whose only desire is to make it through yet another dark and cold night of mental terror or hardship?

But once again, let me remind you that, like it or not, every man is but a single step from the streets themselves, and this, regardless of his education, his friends, his training, his wardrobe or even the amount of cold, hard cash that he currently has within his wallet!

And no man is ever immune from the twist and turns of fate and this, no matter how highly educated, how arrogant or even how firmly connected he may be! For I have noticed even PhDs, men and women who once dealt in high finance and even those who literally scorned the destitute or even “The Down On Their Luck”, who have ended up out upon the pavement and this just because of a slight twist of fate, a suffering of fortune or even their very own arrogance and even their loss of self respect! And it can also happen to you as well – “Believe It Or Not?”
