URGENT: Coronavirus impacting U.S. military bases
By: Alan Reyes, USO - 03-11-20
Re: info@uso.org

I just got this from the USO - thought I'd send to all members:

Wayne,

I just stepped out of a meeting directing the USO’s response to the impacts of coronavirus on U.S. troops and military bases around the world. Because you’re such a critical part of our team, I wanted to share an update with you:

This outbreak is impacting day-to-day military base operations around the world — especially in South Korea and the Pacific — and limiting service members’ access to community resources they need.
Troops are facing base restrictions and even the isolation of quarantine if they’ve been directly exposed to the virus.
So far, service members stationed in South Korea have been ordered to stay on their bases — including Camp Walker, Camp Humphreys and Camp Casey. And yet, many support programs on base like restaurants, libraries and gyms have been shut down, leaving service members without community resources.
Military leadership has asked that many USO centers overseas remain open and extend hours of operation to continue providing trusted support during this rapidly changing situation. It’s always been the USO’s goal to support brave men and women in uniform, and this is no exception. Our top priority remains providing our service members with the resources they need no matter what they’re facing.

We’re one of the only organizations mobilizing to make sure our troops have everything they need to face this coronavirus outbreak. We've already spent $50,000 on protective equipment and sanitation supplies to help ensure our centers remain safe and open for service members, but our work can't stop there. We're counting on your help to deliver critical resources to support service members around the world during this time of growing need and uncertainty.

So please, help us support our troops with a gift of $10 to send much-needed resources to our brave heroes grappling with coronavirus around the world.

Thank you so much for supporting our brave troops during this critical moment.

Alan J. Reyes
Chief Operating Officer, USO
