Default United Nations...For What ??

I have some thoughts on the Unitied nations organization.I will
get right to the point.I think the U.S. Govt should with draw us
from membership in the UN and kick those yahoos out of this nation !!
If I had my say,I'd turn that UN bldg into an apartment building
for homeless veterans and make the lousy UN pay the Bill
forever!!!
This county is a soverign nation and we do not need to ask for
permission to protect our borders and interests around the
world.
It just drives me nuts when I hear the UN this and the UN that
Kick the Bums Out !!!!
A ticked off masher

For thousands of years civilized nations have tried, and usually failed, to install SOME kind of body whose purpose it is to serve as a buffer between warring states, between belligerance and cooperation. Some (most) simple human beings long for peace, an end to state-sponsored violence and thievery. Some (few) cannot seem to stop themselves from justifying killing and stealing.
If people want the U.N. out of our lives, then why not stop the bloodshed?

There are, by the way, hundreds and hundreds of enormous buildings owned privately (as well as public ones) that are and have been totally empty in America for a long time... and they too would make great housing for vets. I
guess there ain't no money in it...

I couldn't agree with you more. The only difference between the League of Nations and the UN is that the UN has been around longer.

One has only to look at the "Oil for Food" scandal and the recent report by an independent agency citing corruption throughout the UN to realize it is a worthless as breasts on an iceberg.

I say to hell with the UN, kick them out, let them go to Paris as I'm quite sure Chirac would welcome them with open arms and France would feel important.

While you are absolutely correct in that "civilized" nations have attempted to bring about international civility, stopping the bloodshed has nothing to do with getting the UN out of our lives. Please check the UN's record, and see aside from the humanitarian departments, just what they have accomplished, or better yet been unable to accomplish. They are a paper tiger (no insult meant to tigers by the way)
