Photo Release: Bay Area Coast Guard units provide security and enforce safe boating a
SAN FRANCISCO – The Coast Guard provided rescue capabilities and law enforcement during Game 1 of the World Series at McCovey Cove this evening. Coast Guard crews from Station San Francisco and the Coast Guard Cutter Pike, an 87-foot patrol boat homeported in San Francisco, working with local law enforcement, patrolled the area and ensured a safe event for spectators on the water. Vessels more than 65 feet were not permitted to enter McCovey Cove because of the high volume of boaters and random boating safety checks were conducted on vessels. Though hundreds of boaters and kayakers turned out for the game, there were no reported accidents on the water. Coast Guard crews have been providing law enforcement support for Giants baseball games at McCovey Cove since AT&T Park was established in 2000. More... |
