![]() We ALL get to see NATIONAL events every day in our newspaper.
But we don't see LOCAL news events in other parts of the country and world. Some of them are...interesting! NY - A New York couple is heading to court after the bride refused to return the guy's $48,800 engagement ring after they split up. In related news: There are morons who spend $48,800 for engagement rings. *** Coventry, United Kingdom - A man spent $30,000 to have a Boeing 747 flight simulator installed in his bedroom. He is presently reported to be trying to recruit "flight attendants". *** California - The City of Pasadena has been ordered to pay $80,000 to a quadriplegic man who police pulled from his wheelchair and hung upside down from a concrete wall in order to search him. *** Miami, FL - Over 33% of fuel pumps in South Florida are inaccurate. Over HALF of the inaccurate pumps ERR IN FAVOR OF THE CONSUMER! *** UK Times - Turkey confirms it WILL attack Kurds in Northern Iraq who are raiding across the Turkish border. According to the Turkish Prime Minister, "We do not need the permission of the United States to defend our country." *** Indianapolis, IN - A parrot mimicked the sound of a smoke alarm to alert a family that the house was on fire. Everyone got out safely including the parrot. *** Portland, OR - A man bought a used truck from an individual. A year after he bought it an axle broke, causing it to crash into a car, injuring the driver. The victim filed a negligence suit against EVERYONE WHO HAD EVER OWNED THE TRUCK...and won. *** Atlantic City, NJ - A 7- year old child was suspended from school...for drawing a picture of a stick figure pointing a gun at another stick figure. Says the Principal, "In this school we have ZERO TOLERANCE for guns." *** Easton, PA - A woman's boyfriend beat and punched the woman's 2-year old child and kicked the child across the room. In his defense the man told the judge, "I work at night, and I'm just not a 'morning person'". *** Williamsburg, KY - A man decided to download kiddie porn on a Public LIbtrary computer. He shared his images with the guy sitting at the next computer...who was a cop.

![]() Rigger,
Truly some weird sh!t, even though most such so typically American. Though and in fairness, I'll bet that a lot of Atlantic City parents are sleeping better tonight knowing that their kids will be much safer, since that obviously pathological 7 year old killer pervert has been suspended.   Rigger, did you see the picture on TV or in paper? All that any sane people could make of "It", is that The Suspended Kiddie is one sorry-ass excuse of an artist. Looked like drawn by some poor visioned 3 year old. Neil The Leg

![]() Ya know - I'm not shocked - and I should be - but this crap has been going on for so long now most of us just accept it. Those wiith lots of money are strange anyway. They have way too much of everything and end up getting real stupid and buying the weirdest things.
Now the guy with the axle coming off and suing everyone associated with that truck seems a little stretched. Legal or not we all sell cars - AS IS. Does this mean we are liable for an incident that results in a issue a year later. We all buy cars some are posted - NO WARRANTY available. Yet if we have an accident we can sue them? HMMMMM I wonder.

![]() Boats,
The judge's rationale for finding all owners liable was "that the original owner and all subsequent owners of the truck failed to perform any of the [manufacturer's] recommended services [on the axles] during more than 500,000 miles of use." Specifically, failed to clean and repack the bearings every 25,000 miles and also failed, every 100,000 miles, to disassemble, clean, inspect, and refill or repack the bearings with clean lubricant, readjust the bearing play, and torque the rear axle flange nuts." How the judge determined that this maintenance did not occur, I have no idea. Steve
