We - Robots?

Just when you thought that movies like ?The Terminator and I Robot? were pure science fiction hokum, the military has come up with two in a series of Combat Robots that rival, if not utterly surpass, anything out of Buck Rogers! This duet of technological mili-wonders go by the names of -"TALON & SWORD!"

Granted, robots have been utilized for a good many years in a great variety of fields, and even the constabulary (police) have been in on the act for some time now! But these two (new), robotic wonders (Talon & Sword) are real works of military art!

Talon has already been used in Iraq to detonate enemy ordnance and mines, but in the process, at least from what I saw, the little tank-like robot also took one helluva beating! ?Hey, maybe they should outfit the little monster with a laser so that it can detonate explosives from a distance!??

As a matter of fact, they may even want to attach a grenade launcher to the contraption so it can just sit there, under cover, lobbing grenades at unexploded ordnance!

Well, that too has been thought of! It seems that Talon?s big brother (SWORD), yet another upscale treaded robot, comes packing! It can be fitted with an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher), and even a machine gun! The little bugger can even get into places that no ?Flesh & Bone Foot Soldier? can! ?

Sword can also take out snipers, gun emplacements, and even command posts, even if they haven?t trained it to climb a ladder or swim yet!? Hey - maybe we can retrofit fit this little tin-man with pontoons?

?Just think of the possibilities, and with stem-cell research and bionics always in the news, maybe they will come out soon with a model that is half machine and half human!? As a matter of fact, if that would have happened some time back, there may have been no need to experiment with drugs, gasses, hallucinogenic and chemicals upon our own military personnel, now would there?

Of course, there is a downside to this contraption - come payday, the bars and bordellos that usually surround most military bases would be hurting for business, unless of course, they can develop a robotic hooker to service the likes of Talon and Sword!!

And hey, while we are at it, why not develop a robotic politician too - just think of the possibilities there as well? A politico that doesn?t have an ego, one that doesn?t pull down huge bucks, and one that you can turn off with a flick of the switch!! And if the greasy little bugger doesn?t do the job that it was created to perform, you merely scrap the damned thing!!
