Lightbulb Invitation to a tea party on April 15th

http://taxdayteaparty.com/

In Vegas, the party will start at noon and go on into the evening.

The website above has listings all over the country.

Keith, there is one in Yakima on the West side of the county courthouse.

Unless the voting citizens of the USA exercise recall elections, the "tea parties" are just a lot of noise, smoke, and mirrors.

Just before the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989 the leader of the protests said to Chinese General Secretary Zhao Ziyang, "We have the power of the people behind us!" Ziyang replied, "You have nothing."

I'm not saying such a thing will happen here but the attitude of politicians is the same.

They tell us what we want to hear when then run for election. In some cases they change their story for each audience.

When they get into office they vote the way they want.

One of the things that is most important to them is getting reelected. If we can let them know that we will hit the streets it is an organized way to say "We disagree with the way this congress is voting to borrow money to spend it on things that we wouldn't endorse spending locally".

It is meant as an immediate warning to cause them to stop squandering our money immediately and not just a "next election, you're out".

You are right, we the people will need to do more than stand in a park with signs but it's a start. At least we will be out talking to each other. On the 15th we will see if we really do care about saddling our children and grandchildren with trillions of dollars of debt. We need to agree on the problem before we can work on the solution.

The Congress has created and fed the monster called the "tax code". The lazy 50% of adults who can't even find time to register to vote has made sure we continue to have it. The other 50% that vote and keep electing career-politicians who only look out for themselves and make sure there are plenty of tax breaks for their fat-cat friends. And finally, Obama's recent tax dodging appointees to his cabinet says it all.

The idea of the Tea Parties is not to start the march on DC, although I find that to be a very good thought!, but to demonstrate to each indidvidual that they are not alone, that there are millions of other people who are frustrated, angry, and ready for the next step. Determining that next step is more a local concern, such as defeating any legislator who voted for the Porkulus. I see the Tea Parties as a way of identifying other folks who are just as pissed, and want to do something about it. Getting organized is the first step.
