For too long, a variety of people [insert whatever group, individual, race, or political action committee] has made inconsistent, untrue, or biased statements to the detriment of someone else. For some reason, our standards of decency and behavior have been dumbed down or watered down to the point where no one appears to be responsible for what they say or do. As a result of this morality on the cheap, loose lips spout off vile drivel, and when others are offended to the point of a potential tort action, the vast majority of people either sit by and yawn or completely ignore the insults that were hurled.

In the words of a famous American, 'words mean things,' and when libel is printed or slander is uttered, a corresponding counter action should occur. I personally hope the offended Marine gets several pounds of Murtha's flesh.
