No man (or woman) is ever perfect or even beyond reproach! And to even expect any mere mortal to be without (so-called) sin - is ludicrous and ridiculous at best!!

Of course, there are those out there, who forever attempt to pass themselves off as being the absolute icons of morality, the bastions of perfection and the spotless wonders of humanity - but we all (down deep) know better, now don’t we? As once again, no human being is ever totally beyond reproach, especially within our current political arena – And So It Is and so unfortunately, it has always been throughout human history – Bar The Occasional Few!!

As such, the very best that we can ever hope for or even expect, is that we select people to guide our political destiny who are genuine and who always try to Put Our Magnificent Nation First And Foremost and that is, after all, all that we can ever expect or even hope for? But unfortunately, this is not always the case – and once again, unfortunately – It Rarely Is!!

1. - Because it is so hard to do anything about it. Curbing political corruption requires the involvement of very many actors and pressures, and it requires deep democratization. This is time consuming and there are no quick fixes. The seemingly unsurmountable difficulties in tackling political corruption could also explain why anti-corruption interventions have mostly focused on bureaucratic corruption. But this reluctance to deal with root causes also explains why so many anti-corruption interventions have failed.
Political corruption is the use of powers by government officials or their network contacts for illegitimate private gain.

In summary, political corruption can be attributed to strong urban traditions of ethnic voting, semi-corrupt police, and bribe-offering contractors along with decentralized and inefficient law enforcement machinery.

Political corruption: Addressing the root cause

Political corruption differs from bureaucratic corruption. Political corruption is not only about getting the money in, but also about securing power. The consequences are therefore dramatically worse. A president helping him or herself to money from the treasury and buying political support is a whole different story than a teacher or a nurse demanding bribes to do a job. The problem with political corruption is that it goes beyond greed and personal enrichment. It gives both the means and the incentives to hold on to power.
