Default NASA & the Muslims: WTF?

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his "foremost" mission as the head of America's space agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world.

Though international diplomacy would seem well outside NASA's orbit, Bolden said in an interview with Al Jazeera that strengthening those ties was among the top tasks President Obama assigned him. He said better interaction with the Muslim world would ultimately advance space travel.

[Is our nation losing its mind, or is it just one misguided, ignorant, gullible and stupid political party?]

So how do you like your president now, gimpy?

Obama’s new mission for NASA: Reach out to Muslim world

By: Byron York
Chief Political Correspondent
07/05/10 2:50 AM EDT

In a far-reaching restatement of goals for the nation’s space agency, NASA administrator Charles Bolden says President Obama has ordered him to pursue three new objectives: to “re-inspire children” to study science and math, to “expand our international relationships,” and to “reach out to the Muslim world.” Of those three goals, Bolden said in a recent interview with al-Jazeera, the mission to reach out to Muslims is “perhaps foremost,” because it will help Islamic nations “feel good” about their scientific accomplishments.

In the same interview, Bolden also said the United States, which first sent men to the moon in 1969, is no longer capable of reaching beyond low earth orbit without help from other nations.

Bolden made the statements during a recent trip to the Middle East. He told al-Jazeera that in the wake of the president’s speech in Cairo last year, the American space agency is now pursuing “a new beginning of the relationship between the United States and the Muslim world.” Then:
When I became the NASA Administrator — before I became the NASA Administrator — [Obama] charged me with three things: One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering.
Later in the interview, Bolden discussed NASA’s goal of greater international cooperation in space exploration. He said the United States, more than 40 years after the first moon mission, cannot reach beyond earth’s orbit today without assistance from abroad:
In his message in Cairo, [Obama] talked about expanding our international outreach, expanding our international involvement. We’re not going to go anywhere beyond low earth orbit as a single entity. The United States can’t do it, China can’t do it — no single nation is going to go to a place like Mars alone.
Bolden’s trip included a June 15 speech at the American University in Cairo. In that speech, he said in the past NASA worked mostly with countries that are capable of space exploration. But that, too, has changed in light of Obama’s Cairo initiative. “He asked NASA to change…by reaching out to ‘non-traditional’ partners and strengthening our cooperation in the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia and in particular in Muslim-majority nations,” Bolden said. “NASA has embraced this charge.”

“NASA is not only a space exploration agency,” Bolden concluded, “but also an earth improvement agency.”

Arrow NASA’s spaced-out mission no longer includes … space

...
Hey, maybe that’s why Obama hasn’t taken the Iranian effort to build a nuclear bomb all that seriously until now. He just wanted Iran to make the Muslim world feel good about their achievements in science! And it’s hard to do to that unless you talk a lot about outstretched open hands — and ignore a freedom movement that wants to depose the brutal tyrants who are trying to give the Muslim world a new “historic contribution.”

Actually, Muslim nations should be insulted by the idea that the US pays NASA to provide them with paternalistic and patronizing validation and self-esteem boosts. And they probably will be.

The problem Byron uncovers goes farther than just the Muslim outreach, though. NASA has always inspired children and even bolstered international relations, but not because that was its mission. It did those things by pursuing solid goals of exploration of space, which is why Congress funds the agency. Those esteem-boosters came as a secondary result of actual achievement, not as an end in itself. The Obama administration wants to turn this over onto its head by making NASA a bureaucracy dedicated to self-esteem which might at some point have a goal that has to do with exploration of space.

This is a recipe for failure on an expensive scale. Congress needs to either get the White House to redefine its mission for NASA or cut off its funds until the self-esteem party is canceled.

" ... to help them feel good about their scientific accomplishments..."? How many satellites have the sheetheads put into orbit? Can any of them even spell "astronaut"? Is part of our government now responsible for helping other people feel good about themselves? So how you you like your president now, gimpy?

Get a load of this !!!!!!!!!!

Well, boys and girls, today we are letting the fox guard the hen house. The wolves will be herding the sheep! Obama appoints two devout Muslims to home land security posts. Doesn't this make you feel safer already?

Obama and Janet Napolitano Appointed Arif Alikhan, a devout Muslim, as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano swore-in Kareem Shora, a devout Muslim, who was born in Damascus, Syria, as ADC National Executive Director as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).

NOTE: Has anyone ever heard a new government official being identified as a devout Catholic, a devout Jew or a devout Protestant...? Just wondering.

Devout Muslims being appointed to critical Homeland Security positions? Doesn't this make you feel safer already?? That should make our home land much safer, huh!!

Was it not "Devout Muslim men" that flew planes into U.S. buildings 8 years ago? Was it not a Devout Muslim who killed 13 at Fort Hood ?

Forward this important info. to anyone that cares about the future of our Country.

Snopes documents it's true: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/dhs.asp
So does www.ask.com

Default Friends,...

When will all this dictatorial nonsense ever end?

When will We Americans have somewhere to redress current & ever-increasing dictates.

Going to government no longer works. Neither going to Press, Justice Dept., Supreme Court, Attorney General or any other Political Electees or Appointees realistically work anymore.

Shouldn't We Subjects have a little more than just Hope & Prayer to substain US (both ways)?

Neil

What I find rather amazing is that we found out about this NASA/Islam link only because of a release from the Muslim TV channel, Al Jazeera. Maybe because The Bastart didn't want to announce his stupid decision on American TV, to avoid having America see what a complete, utter fool he is, and how his decisions are working at cross-purposes with the best interests of the USA. He has already succeeded in supplanting Jimma Cahta as the Worst President in US History, a dubious honor not likely to be broken for the next three millenia.

A bumber sticker - actually, it filled the entire rear window on a Chevy Suburban - was a sign that said, "You Voted for Obama? Thanks a lot, Asshole." May voters' remorse be remembered in November.
