Veterans of Foriegn War?

After coming home from over there one of the guys I worked with asked me to come to the VFW in Strongsville, Ohio with him one night and so I did. Jim served in Seoul, Korea in 1952. The night that we were there wasn't a meeting night but there was a fair amount of people at the bar and back then I could drink so the reasonable place to be was at the bar.
For the second round I asked the bar tender for beer for both my buddy and I when he asked me "What war were you in?"
I answered that I was in Vietnam at which point I was promptly told that that wasn't a war and told to leave the post. I could not buy anything at the bar only members that had served in a "war" and Vietnam was a "police action."
Thank God that because of the meds I take I can't drink any alcohol today but is the VFW still so ignorant? I guess since an Islamic Holy War, Jihad has been declared on America today the troops that have served in the Middle-East can go to any VFW they want to go to and become members.
