Unhappy Civil War In Government?

If there is one thing that you can generally count upon in government - it is partisanship! No matter how good or how stupid the issue or debate, you can usually give odds that the individual political parties will be unified in their support, or their opposition!

There is, however, one thing that will divide a party quicker than anything else, and that is self-survival. If a politico finds himself in danger of losing his ?Class A Meal Ticket?, he will put a lot of distance between himself and his party overlords! ?Such is the case on this immigration issue, in my opinion!!?

With the Republicans generally in opposition to this ?Path To Citizenship? issue, and content to stick with a ?Guest Worker Program?, and the Democrats taking an opposite view, one would think that the two sides of the aisle have been clearly defined? However, many a politician has realized that, illegal or not, the alien population is increasing and so is the financial and political power that they wield! ?As such, this situation has been allowed to get totally out of hand - the reason being that far too many in power have failed (and are still failing) to act like they have a pair!!?

"With some 12,000,000 plus illegals currently in country, it is my opinion that to foolishly grant blanket amnesty would not resolve this critical issue!" Rather, it would merely knock down the fences and walls, and further encourage millions upon millions more to "ILLEGALLY" flood across our borders and demand that they too be given a free ride to citizenship, and all of the benefits entailed therein!"

Although both political parties seem to agree upon stronger border enforcement, the question that comes to my mind here is - ?WHY??

Why bother trying to stop these illegals at the border, if you are going to give them amnesty after they criminally cross the International Line? It is beginning to look more and more like the old ?Checkpoint Charlie In Berlin? every day - "Once across the line, you are home free!" And for the record, only about one in four crossing over from Hispaneola is ever caught in the act!

No matter how dedicated and talented, no matter how many strong, the Border Patrol can only do so much to hold back the flood, especially when government is sending a mixed message. Stop them at the Border, but if they manage to sneak through (and most do) - ?BACK OFF AND LEAVE THEM ALONE??

When political ambition and international ass-smooching starts to mean more to certain powers that be than our national sovereignty, our strained economy, and even the well being of our future generations, then yes indeed - ?WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE!?

?It is not that our elected government lacks the power, the mandate, or even the right to secure our own borders - it merely lack the will, the desire, or the courage (opinion)!?

"With elections looming close at hand, maybe they had better begin to rethink their position!!"
