Default All I can say

Its good to have a disscusion without name calling.

If the tree isn't a religous symbol why then do religous people get so upset when the placement of the tree is challenged? if the tree don't mean anything . I don't protest anything about religon. I believe in God , although the term God is a human term, I believe there is a God and I do not pretend to understand a God or tell others what a God is or wants me to do.
To each there own when it comes to there religous beliefes.
Rabbit season is in November, or at least it is for me. The summer rabbits don't taste good. same with squirel. I don't think Texas has a season on either.

Ron I think you have a good point in that you can't force religion on anyone it has to come from the heart. the next thing you know we will be putting up stuff for our jewish friends and muslium heaven forbid friends hari chrisna's hindo's, buddest and who knows what but this dosen't bother me as much as our state politicians who dictated taha any bulding that uses public funds has to buy so much $$$$ art work. most of the stuff i seen bought and displayed is junk labled art. so nothin is fare in this world i just learned to live with it the best i can.

Wink Bunny Wabbit & Rane Deer

Let's go hunting and sacrifice some wabbits and rane deer to the God's of secular holidays.
Sid I need a good shot gun and rifle that will handle rane deer and bunny wabbits.

Out of all of these guys who do consider themself to be the "religous" type did any of them say they thought of them as a symbol of there personal love for God and his Son Jesus? NO! Hippidy Hoppity the easter bunny isn't on my mind on Easter. Nor is Santa or a tree on Christmas. I don't think anyone here wears a little bunny on a necklace instead of a cross.

If you don't like the way your city spends money change who you vote for. Don't tell people they are wrong in there faith because the majority of people in the US like to buy a freakin chocolate bunny or a stupid pine tree once a year.

Ron,
Just a quick couple of questions regarding your original post: just how much taxpayer money and public land is involved in celebrating Easter as you know it? And if a cross or a menorah is on public land, why does that cause anybody's panties to get wadded up? That public display is not equated with the "establishing of a religion" as prohibited by the First Amendment. There is no constitutionally guaranteed right not to be offended by anything or everything that comes into view.
