Thumbs down The VA sucks!

I hate this place more than I could ever put in to words. If it were not for them making the decision my uncle wasn't worth treating he would prob be alive today. Now this.

Yesterday one of the doctors there(foreign of course, all of them are!) called us to tell us on the phone that my grandpa has leukemia. The she went on to say its just blood cancer, no big deal!!! Excuse me....cancer of any kind is a big deal.

Now we have to wait a week to get a damned letter to tell us when he will get an appointment which they said could be 2-3 weeks after getting the letter. We might just kidnapp himm and take him to another doc.

Damn i'm mad

"NO BIG DEAL INDEED?"

How easy it is for someone not in the crosshairs to make such a comment! But coming out of the VA, it comes as no surprise!

I once has a foreign (not US Certified I believe) VA doctor give me blood poisoning by utilizing a Middle Eastern Treatment in removing a mole from my neck. Of course, this is no way as serious as leukemia, but it does show a VA mindset that I fear stretches all the way to DC!

These people feel themselves beyond reproach, penalty, or even humanity! Yet we continue to tolerate in our own country, that which we have even gone to war against abroad!

"For shame, For shame!!"

Hey Girl,

I said get those Tosies Wet, and now you are up to your neck with the rest of us.

Didnt take you long.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

The younger generation sticking up for the "ole farts" that deserve what the Govt promised them.

Keep it up , we need more people like you doing your homework on this subject, especially for the War Related problems, vice the common cold or someone having a motorcycle wreck on base and drawing disability from it.

enough...........

Thanks guys and i'll be proud to live with it!

I guess one of the things that makes me the maddest is that all these "docs" look at the Veterans like they are trash, or below them. Why does our Government employs these clowns?? I know what it is...to save a buck and if we can afford to wire up the post offices in Iraq don't you think we could have better health care for our Vets?? I'm so tired of political bull when it comes to this issue. These politicians just need to pull there head out of there rear and get to real work.

To me politicians are a bunch of piss ants.

Hey Melody,

I'm sorry to hear about your Grandpa I know we never like bad news and some doctors get pretty cold blooded after years of telling people bad news.

I lost my Grandpa to cancer and it got him quick I hated everyone and everybody because they couldn't save him. But I've learned that Doctors aren't God's they are just educated men/women in most cases who are doing their best with the science and tools available today.

I sure wish they could find a cure for cancer its not my favorite subject since I too got cancer about 5 years ago - my wife like to have had a coronary - but after surgery and chemo I've been in remissioin so - so far - so good. I get tested every year and I'm six months late for my last one. I'm goin don't worry I just gotta set up an appointment.

I agree with you we have more foreign doctor's in the states and why is that? I don't know.

I went to my VA this week and was 10 minutes late getting there they made me wait two hours and finally I just told them I had to leave and I would make another 6 month appointment at a later date - but please renew my meds for another year. They said OK.

The system is what the system has always been. My Grandpa, My Dad and My Brother all went to the VA - They are all gone now and now I'm going so what can you do?

Get your Grandpa a second opinion? If you can. Try another VA chapter in your area if you can? But a second opinion would be good before any quick treatments. You have to make the call if your Grandpa can't.

God Bless you and your Grandpa I wish you both smooth sailing.
I will put prayer's in for you both like we all do when one of our own is suffering. Take Care.

Default MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center

It is a program of the University of Texas in Houston. It is one of the top two cancer treatment centers in the world. It was established by the Texas legislature and as such gives over $100,000,000 in free care each year. What Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital is for childhood cancer, MD Anderson is for adults.
