Heya Bluehawk..
Here's my thinking on the woman in combat deal.. It couldn't happen, at least I don't see it happening while I'm around (sure we go.. and my find ourselves there.. but as far as taking the combat MOS's.. not gonna happen) here's why: 1. I like to think of myself as "tough".. now I suppose it was my dad that raised me on an all guy baseball team, and who took me hunting, and made me go out in the snow to collect kindling for the fire.. that was part of it. (Probably because I'm stubborn too and can't stand when people think, "Oh, she can't do it"), but not all girls are. For example, we were on a little ol' field exercise and as everyone was jumping out of the LMTV a girl stopped and said, "I can't jump.. can one of you guys help me.." Oh hell no! See, thats what gives us girls a bad rep. Jump you sissy! (Me and her had a talking after that..) 2. It is a built in trait in most of our good men to "protect" us female type. This is a wonderful thing and I hope it never leaves our moral boys.. but it combat there is no time for that, and its not a switch easily turned on and off. It's the good ol' boy syndrome.. while at jump school, it was the end of a long day (3 jumps in one day!) and we were loading the bus to go home.. there were not enough seats for us all to sit.. and as were crowded into the center isle a fellow stood up and offered me his chair.. now, while this is very kind and I may have taken it had we been on the city bus and I was in heels.. but we are all in the same uniform, and while we're green.. we're the same. (So I said thanks and gave the seat to the guy behind me.) 3. P.C. or E.O. whatever you want to call it, its lame. The boys are gonna cuss and talk vulgar.. there is no stopping this, and in a way I believe its a stress reliever for them. There are way too many girls who take it personal. 4. I'm in love with an 11B.. he said "Oh hell no! There is no way I'd ever let you go through what some of these boys have!" Enough said.. Just my thoughts Respectfully, PFC Natalie Hughes P.S. Just wish there was another way I could shoot big guns.. I like seeing shit get blown up too! |

women in combat
I could never understand why Women or Men would want to be in combat. Its not fun or exciting, Steel and flesh are a bad combination.
If Women want to be in combat, I say , let them, but pull there own weight. and there is no crying in combat, at least until its over. Ron |

Well, there has got to be some kind of a way for women to be in combat if they are able and willing... but not in foxholes.
Maybe that'd work? |

Maybe one of the reasons I'm putting in my warrant packet... the first female commanche pilot?

Ron,
Not all of us cry all the time.. and I pray you've met at least a handful of women that can carry their own weight. They're out there. Respectfully, PFC Natalie Hughes |

yup, that's what I was thinking... pilots, and maybe tank crews (all female) or all female ships and such as that?
Or, mortar platoons all female, why not? |
