Unhappy HELP!!! I live in a Freezer....

And now for the weather......sigh

-35C(-31F)/Windchill-50C (-51F)...

it is so cold that my typing turns to ice cubes...

blew a power steering hose way up at the Soccer Centr... so there that car sits. Until the tow truck is called and it gets hauled to warm up and get fixed...

sigh

I cannot conceive of living in -50 F weather. If your power goes out and you live out in the country you could die very soon even indoors. Right ? How long can you stay outside even heavily bundled up ? What happens if you touch metal with your bare hands ?....

Larry...
if the power goes out.. one would go to a warm place. People here are prepared. Always keep the vehicles full of gas. Always plug them in to keep the engine block heaters warm. Always have emerg supplies in vehicles.. candles, canned heat, sleeping bags, chocolate etc.
As for staying outside in this kinda temps??? are you craaazy?? who would want to??? go way! One only goes out if one has to. and even then... people cancel appointments etc.
why would one wanna touch metal outside with your bare hands in these temps?? lol i suspect you may stick to it. AND one doesn't even think about licking a metal post! hahaha!
We layer, layer, layer clothes and snowsuits or snowmobile suits are the normal and not just for fun and games but to stay warm.
Cows still have to be fed and things still have to be looked after.. but only what absolutely has to. And yes... schools are still open. Buses may not run cuz this kind of cold does weird things to metal and machinery but it is rare to close school due to cold alone.
I reckon we are used to it... sorta lol
hugs...
Susan

At that rate Sue, you could come down here and camp in the back yard...almost. We're on a warming trend for the time being. We are in the +20F range, but the down side is that we are due to be hammered with snow again. Overall its been a fairly light year in accumulation so far. Still have several more weeks of this stuff before the crocuses start pushing up.
Stay warm kiddo!

Default Food for thought.....

As I recall, it takes one calorie of heat energy to raise one cubic cm (1 ml) of water one degree C. So harsh and cold weather is no time for being picky or finicky with get skinny diets as a person doesn?t want to run short of the easy to burn calorie reserves.

So lets break out the 2 lb box of Sees chocolates and see if we cant get to the bottom of the issue. Out of empathy and sympathy for ya?ll Susan, I?ll break into my gift Christmas box of Sees and think/vib out some added heat for ya. That ought to work, I?d say. We were about +10 F this morning with a snowstorm due any moment now. But in comparison, this seems like the banana belt and maybe I should get to planting some banana trees.

Sue...come on down, we had a high of -1 wind chill today. Had about 6-7 inches of snow yesterday and a cloudless sky tonight. Just set the boy out to plug the pick-up in, should be a warm toastie morning!

We now have near white-out conditions! oh joy. gee I love my snowblower (and Yes I'm being very sarcastic).

SEES!!!! I haven't even smelled a Sees chocolate in 13 years! We don't have those on the East Coast. That's it, freezing temps, snow, no Sees, more snow, more freezing temps...I'm moving back to Cali first thing tomorrow morning. Okay AFTER I dig out the driveway.
