Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared war on California?s sick, disabled, elderly and poor. His proposed 2004 budget cuts to IN-HOME-SUPPORT SERVICES are drastic and deadly. He thinks home care workers make too much money and that there are too many elderly and disabled people receiving IHSS care. The Proposed cuts that would affect all home care workers and clients are:

CUT IHSS WORKERS DOWN TO MINIMUM WAGE - $6.75/HOUR.

ELIMINATE FUNDING TO PROVIDE PAY INCREASES AND HEALTH CARE.

CUT 75,000 CONSUMERS FROM THE IHSS RESIDUAL PROGRAM: PEOPLE WHO CARE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS - SPOUSES CARING FOR SPOUSES, PARENTS CARING FOR MINOR CHILDREN AND CONSUMERS WHO HAVE SEVERE DISABILITIES AND NEED PROTECTIVE SUPERVISION. --------------------------------

None of us can sit back and take this! We have worked too hard to make progress. We can?t go back now. This is a call to action! Join with your fellow home care workers, clients, and the disabled and elderly community to fight these attacks or home care services and home care jobs.

The "Governator" bitched like Hell over increases in licencing fees, and through this agenda, unseated the former governor. However, it now seems that "Mr. Muscles" sees nothing amiss with terminating this State's elderly, ill and non-affluent!

It's already happening in Washington State. Only they are starting with the developmentally disabled first. They seem to have all the money the want for their neat little projects. But the ones that really need the help they cut first.

California broke away from the Union while Pete Wilson was the dictator. I left CA when They banned smoking in Denney's. Why should you be alarmed if they ban the elderly??? SH*T, CA hasn't been a state for years. If you speak a foreign language, GO TO CA, make like an alien and get all the benifits.

All we have for a choice is hope that an Earthquake will allow Arizona & all points directly North become our new West Coast and then we may gain some conscerned citizens of America to take part in the reconstruction of these United States there of!!!

I could care less what happens in California. For too many years they have pushed socialism and now they are reaping the benefits. If it's anything like DYFS in NJ or PA it's overfunded and under productive with lots of people collecting paychecks and not doing the work or providing the services they were hired to do.
It's a pretty sad situation when you have garbage collectors with a 3d grade education making more money than a Police officer who puts his life on the line EVERY DAY and has to have a college education to get hired in the first place. DYFS folks have to have degrees in Social Care but I doubt that they all have it. I don't know what the IHSS workers have to have but I bet next weeks pay that they make more than I do.

At the current time, the In Home Support Services people in California make $8.50 an hour (before taxes and union dues), and most of them are part time to boot (Just a few hours a week). Schwarzenegger spends more than that on cigars!

The push is on in Sacramento to lower them to $6.75 an hour. Many of these people are hard working, and have to know some nursing and other skills.
