There have been 4,641 coalition deaths -- 4,324 Americans, two Australians, one Azerbaijani, 179 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, one Czech, seven Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, five Georgians, one Hungarian, 33 Italians, one Kazakh, one Korean, three Latvians, 22 Poles, three Romanians, five Salvadoran, four Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians -- in the war in Iraq as of July 3, 2009, according to a CNN count. The list below is the names of the soldiers, Marines, airmen, sailors and Coast Guardsmen whose deaths have been reported by their country's governments. The list also includes seven employees of the U.S. Defense Department. At least 31,354 U.S. troops have been wounded in action, according to the Pentagon.

U.S. officials confirmed on March 29, 2008 that human remains recovered in Iraq were Maupin's. Maupin was promoted in absentia on May 1, 2004, from private first class to specialist. Monsoor25Navy SEAL assigned to a West-Coast based command Garden Grove, California Monsoor, a machine gunner, was part of a sniper overwatch security position with three other SEALs and eight Iraqi Army soldiers in Ramadi, Iraq, on September 29, 2006. An insurgent managed to lob a fragmentation grenade into the overwatch position. The grenade hit Monsoor in the chest before falling to the ground. Monsoor fell onto the grenade, saving the lives of his teammates and the Iraqi soldiers. He died of his wounds 30 minutes later. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on April 8, 2008.
