A Soldier's Wife
I ran across this poem today, and it really touched me. It rang as true 38yrs. ago as it does today for a whole other generation of women. As most of you know, Tom and I were newlyweds when he redeployed to Vietnam for a second tour. It was hard for both of us, but we each had our duties to perform and accepted that.
I am proud of Tom's service, and thank each of you for yours. And remember the heroines, the wives, mothers, sisters, and girlfriends, that you left behind to silently perform their duties. Kath I hate to watch Each time you leave, And I hide from you How much I grieve. I know it?s your duty And you will go, But once you are gone I will miss you so. I know you?ll come home As soon as you can, But right now you?ll deploy Like an honorable man. So I?ll keep things together Till you can come back, But, this is where you belong, Not some desert in Iraq. Yet, I do understand Why you risk you?re life, For that?s a Soldier?s job, And I?m a Soldier?s wife. Author Unknown

Kath,
Thanks for the poem, my heart goes out to these young women coming down the same trail we walked. Hope all is well on the home front, Arrow>>>>>>
