Default The Fair Tax Plan

How many of you have read The FairTax Book by Neal Boortz?

If you've read it, what are your comments, thoughts?

Default From Boortz' book:

"If we eliminated all taxes on capital and labor, as the FairTax does, the United States would become the world's tax haven. We have the most stab le economy, the most liquid and trusted markets, and the highest rates of labor productivity in the world - and trillions of dollars in those OFC's [Offshore Financial Centers] would flow back home to the United States for the very reason they found themselves offshore to start with.... Remember, right now about $11 trillion in American wealth is sitting in banks and accounts in Europe, Asia, South America, the Caribbean, and elsewhere. This is money that is not working in the American economy. This is money that is not creating jobs and driving economic growth in our country. This is money that has fled our punishing tax structure, and that would come flowing back home if the income tax, both personal and corporate, were to be eliminated and replaced with a simple and fair consumption tax: the FairTax."

Didn't read the book, so how would a Fair Tax system work.

The IRS is a creature of the Senate and House of Representatives....That is all there is to it...Do some research into how it was created....and supposedly "ratified" by the states...Quite an education. As long as the 50% of the population that bothers to register to vote, keeps voting into office, over and over, the same career politicians, our tax structure will not change at all.

Default IRS

There's no need for an IRS anymore, Just a consumer tax and business tax will do. No individual taxes nessesary. No fileing tax returns, wouldn't that be nice. Everyone pays, wouldn't that be a change.

Despite what might appear as a boring title, the book is actually a very good read. By reading it, I've learned more about how inequitable the current tax system really is, how it soaks the middle class, hampers business, encourages dollar flight to offshore banks, and generally rewards special interest groups. With the FairTax plan in effect, there would be enough revenue to fund every benefit plan that has ever been perceived. It really should be supported by every political stripe in America, as it is not an elephant or donkey issue.

After reading it, I would encourage those that agree with this common sense approach to taxation to make their feelings known to their respective congresspeople.

I was listening to Neil Boortz on the radio today and he Mentioned his book "The Fair Tax" in relation to how New Englanders look at anything southern as inferior. He stopped in a Connecticut Book store while touring representing his book and asked if they stocked the Fair Tax Book and the Che Chavez T-shirted owner stated after looking up the book on Amazon.com that since it appeared to be written by someone from the South they wouldn't be stocking it. Since that day his book The Fair Tax has been on the NY Best sellers list for 5 weeks. I guess with todays anti-southern sentiment authors like Margret Mitchel and Harper Lee would be ignored if they were alive today writing the great american Novel.
